Procter & Gamble’s Beauty Revealed Microbiology group is seeking a PhD scientist. This group is a strong contributor to the success of well-known product brands such as Olay, Head and Shoulders, Old Spice, Secret, Native and many more. Successful candidate will join a group where both teamwork and individual initiative are highly valued. The group forms active partnerships with technology and product development teams to support a broad range of products with >$11B in sales. The position is in P&G’s largest innovation center in Mason, OH which fosters a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment demanding strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Lead method innovation including new and improved methods for superior product quality
- Contributing to impactful product visualizations, claims and demos by decoding deep science to increase consumer understanding of and preference for P&G brands and products
- Partnering effectively with multi-functional, multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., Product Development, Technology Development, Regulatory, Safety, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance) to define and solve key technical problems of value to the business
- Embrace digital tools and data science to extract insights from structured databases
- Collaborate and provide technical coaching/training to others
Job Qualifications
- A desire to work on applied understanding and problem solving
- Strong innovation and creative problem-solving skills
- Experience in modeling, data science and/or digital data activation (preferred skills)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and guide others
- A PhD in Microbiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Expertise in the laboratory cultivation and characterization of a diversity of microbes, aseptic technique, and microbial bioassays
- A curious mindset and a passion for discovering new things
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights and use those insights to influence technical recommendations.
- Great collaboration skills with people inside and outside of P&G’s disciplines, and external partners (suppliers, universities, national labs, instrument vendors, etc.)
