Summary


The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) seeks an Events & Marketing Coordinator to join a high-performing strategic relations team to assist with planning and executing regular in-person events and supporting our marketing/communications team. This position will report to the Vice President, Strategic Relations, and ensure productive relationships with members, event sponsors, and support with marketing & communications. The coordinator will work closely with the Director of Strategic Relations and the Director of Marketing & Communications and have regular and frequent check-ins. This role supports the LAEDC's mission to create a stronger regional economy that provides a high quality of living and prosperity for all.

Duties


MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS


  • Coordinate and implement ongoing communication strategies. Write informative, engaging, and persuasive copy and visuals.
  • Assist with post-event marketing and content creation.
  • Produce digital marketing content, including executing campaigns, message development, analyzing metrics, and identifying trends.
  • Work with team to develop speaker slides and proofread of all marketing materials for events and programs.
  • Create and schedule event lead-up marketing and day-of materials for audiences, including email correspondence, social media posts, slide decks, etc.


EVENTS


  • Coordination, preparation, and effective implementation of LAEDC events, including summits, receptions, speaker series and fundraising events. Provide on-site support during events, including registration and check-in, set-up and break-down.
  • Participate in all planning, pre-event, and post-event meetings.
  • Assist in managing event logistics for both online and large-scale in-person events, including working with vendors, venues, catering, guest registration, and other related needs.
  • Willingness to learn CRM software to track event attendance.
  • Assist with coordination and collection of items for silent auctions and/or raffles at events.
  • Assist with research of services provided and related and pricing of venues and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education


Qualifications:


A degree from four-year college or university is preferred in the areas of non-profit management, business, communication, marketing; or equivalent work experience in nonprofit, donor relations, fundraising, event planning, communications, economic development, or related studies is required.


Experience


A minimum of 2 years of marketing and/or communications, donor management, philanthropy or fundraising experience, and demonstrated success in event planning.


Language Ability


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.


Math Ability


Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability


Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel; PowerPoint; Internet software, Salesforce CRM, Fonteva, and other event software. Working knowledge of graphic design software or platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc. Working knowledge of social media management software and e-mail marketing platforms, specifically Sprout Social, MailChimp, etc. Working knowledge of website platforms, including Word Press, Fonteva, and Square Space.

Work Environment


This position will operate in a hybrid schedule. The employee will base work from the DTLA office 40% of the work week and additional time as needed with the option to work remotely on the remaining time. Employees are required to reside in the Los Angeles County Region. The organization will continue to assess the hybrid environment and adjust to meet programmatic needs accordingly.
