What Rockwell Needs From You

As part of our Engineered To Order (ETO) team we are looking for a Hardware Development Engineer who will be responsible for modifying or improving our linear motor control hardware to meet specific customer needs. You will be directly involved in helping our customer develop their next generation automation machines using leading edge Rockwell Automation Independent Cart Technologies.

What Motion Control Does

To remain competitive in today’s demanding business world, companies always look for a faster way to design, develop and deliver enhanced machines to meet customer goals. Our Motion Control software helps facilitate the machine design process, simplify integrations and systems debugging as well as speed time to market.

We offer servo drives, servo motors and actuators to provide simplified machine design to provide more system flexibility and improve overall performance. We also provide a new approach to linear motors by using magnets instead of gear/chains and belts to allow for precise motion control with frictionless propulsion. The use of magnets results in reduced downtime and maintenance, decreased energy consumption and improved the ability to change machine profiles.

Summary

Work with our customers from inception through acceptance to implement custom solutions of our Independent Cart Technology products (iTRAK, MagneMotion, and MPAS). Evaluates selection, reliability, properties, and techniques used in production; plans, designs and develops electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, control systems, equipment, magnetic and/or optical feedback systems.

What You Will Do

• Talk to customers to understand their special requirements
• Work on the customization of standard products to meet specific customer needs
• Troubleshoot Hardware / Firmware systems
• Partner with our Performance Engineering team to improve product costs and solve obsolescence issues
• Work with suppliers and internal manufacturing team to produce and test custom solutions

Skills You Have

• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Able to work in a group setting to meet project goals
• Presentation Skills, taking data and presenting to internal stakeholders and customers

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
• Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
• Travel 10-20% of time

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical hardware design
• Experience with firmware development
• Experience with Industrial Drives and Controls for servo motors and/or precision motion control systems
