Description

About this role

At BlackRock, our smartest investment is you. We are a global investment manager helping more and more people experience financial well-being. BlackRock’s business is investing on behalf of our clients, from large institutions to parents, grandparents, doctors, and teachers who entrust their savings to us. We are committed to our clients – period. Our promise is to offer them the clearest thinking about what to do with their money and the products and services they need to secure a better financial future.

Being a part of BlackRock means being a part of a community of thoughtful, ambitious people solving some of the most sophisticated financial challenges. Even with the company’s growth, our culture has maintained its entrepreneurial feel — we work hard, we work fast, and we work with purpose.

Your Team

The Global Workplace Experience team is responsible for delivery of a workplace environment for employees and visitors that is customer-focused, enables productivity, reflects the BlackRock culture, and operates with efficiency. The team works with stakeholders, internal partners, and vendors to ensure consistent service delivery and provide a well-managed workplace that meets business needs.

Your Role and Impact

As the Conference and Events Center Manager and lead coordinator for internal and client events, you will be in a critical and highly visible role focused on the successful delivery of our event program at BlackRock’s new flagship headquarters at 50 Hudson Yards. This role will require a passion for teamwork and coordination across teams, a focus on customer-service above all else, and a keen sense of detail and organization. You will deliver events as well as serve as the key point of contact for the clients that are coordinating them. You will work alongside a small team planning multiple events at the same time for key customers within the firm.

Your Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising all requirements including menus, furniture set ups, visitor management, health & safety, deliveries, marketing initiatives, and security.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of health & safety requirements.
  • Operate within agreed budgets and have effective measures in place to support an effective recharge process that supports the accurate cost center to be charged for the event.
  • Organize and/or attend daily meeting to review event orders and ensure last minute changes are communicated with appropriate departments.
  • Use technology tools where available to support the branding and communication requirements.
  • Combine and lead the organization and success delivery of both internal and client event-related activities at our corporation’s world headquarters in NYC. Provide leadership to ensure excellent service delivery for all aspects of events.
  • Exercise your understanding of our building's capabilities to deliver event orchestration among event-related service teams. Focus on optimization of function space and resources at the location.
  • Conduct pre-conference meetings with clients and pertinent departments to confirm all relevant details are documented and communicated. Build floor plans for each event to ensure banquets and clients agree prior to set-up.
  • Serve as the key contact and liaise between client (when applicable), our events team, multi-media, catering, facilities, building vendors, room booking and security teams. Drive regular coordination meetings to ensure awareness across functional teams.
  • Ensure expectations are clear and service delivery meets expectations. This position is the hub of disseminating event information throughout HQ.

You have…

  • A willingness to work a varied schedule that will include early mornings and late evenings to support calendared affairs.
  • An advanced knowledge of the hospitality or food/beverage industry, including food trends, hygiene, dietary, and allergen requirements.
  • The ability to develop positive and respectful relationships with employees at all levels, such as building vendors, senior level executives, and employee networks.
  • An Associate’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management or Food Service Management (preferred).
  • A minimum of 4 years of proven experience in corporate conference center or hotel conference center oversight, or in a related field such as hospitality, catering & event venue management.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • A sharp eye for detail and the ability to prioritize workload and oversee budget when organizing multiple events.
  • Experience coordinating multiple event logistics and the understanding of what it takes to complete simultaneous events; this includes ownership with some events and playing a supportive role for high-profile global executive supported events.

For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $118,750 - $155,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our Benefits

To help you stay energized, engaged and inspired, we offer a wide range of benefits including a strong retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, comprehensive healthcare, support for working parents and Flexible Time Off (FTO) so you can relax, recharge and be there for the people you care about.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities. Beginning in September, all employees will shift to at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. We remain focused on increasing the impactful moments that arise when we work together in person – aligned with our commitment to performance and innovation. As a new joiner, you can count on this hybrid model to accelerate your learning and onboarding experience here at BlackRock.
