Job Description

About the The New Bar:

Hi! We’re The New Bar. We’re a curated nonalcoholic bottle shop and discovery platform built around one simple concept: It’s fun to be good to yourself.

Since launching in July 2022, we’ve built a mission-driven brand with growing momentum and a thriving community. We’re looking for a creative, charismatic, and organized community manager to help us magnify our impact and create newer and stronger connections with our audiences.

What we do:

We help people access, discover, and understand alcohol alternatives and how they can fit into their lifestyles. We’re not here to judge. We’re here to provide products, tools, and information to help people be more mindful, intentional, and healthy about the way they drink - whatever that means to them.

Beyond our flagship store in Venice, CA and our online platform, we love a good party. Building a meaningful, highly engaged community is our top priority.

We’re a small, but mighty team. We’re deeply passionate about our work and think creatively to break societal norms. We believe in meeting people where they are and making behavioral changes accessible to everyone.

In our first year, we threw over 50 community events and became Coachella’s first ever Official Nonalcoholic Partner. We’re always looking for ways to reach new people and bring nonalcoholic options to anywhere fun is being had - that’s where you come in!

The Role:

As The New Bar’s Community Manager, you’ll play a vital role in building and nurturing a thriving community around our mission. Key responsibilities include community building across social media platforms, event coordination and execution, and brand partnerships. You’ll have the opportunity to shape the overall experience of our customers and help them navigate the world of nonalc.

The ideal candidate for this role should have strong social media experience (with a focus on Instagram), a love for event planning, a team-first mindset, and a high level of organization. Our Community Manager will be a passionate advocate for the brand, consistently communicating our unique value proposition and brand messaging.

This is a full-time, in-person position based in Venice, CA.

Responsibilities:

Community Building & Social:

  • Create and contribute engaging, educational content which may include blog posts, newsletters, and other forms of communication.
  • Harness our brand voice and identity to develop and implement a strategic social plan for @the.new.bar on Instagram and @thenewbar on TikTok to build a community following, drive engagement, and increase sales.
  • Manage all social channels including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads.
  • Partner with marketing team and CEO to create seasonal campaigns, announcements, promotions, and more.

Event Coordination & Execution:

  • Plan, organize, and execute various events and activities both in-store and offsite in collaboration with The New Bar team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure smooth event operations and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, vendor management, budgeting, and marketing.

Brand Partnerships:

  • Collaborate with brand partners to develop co-marketing initiatives, joint events, and promotional campaigns that align with our brand’s mission and target audience.
  • Identify, establish, and maintain partnerships with like-minded brands, organizations, and personalities to amplify The New Bar’s reach and impact.

Qualifications:

Education + Experience:

  • Proven experience in community management, brand partnerships, and event coordination.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, hospitality, or a related field.

Skills + Abilities:

  • You are not too cool for school, or getting your hands dirty.
  • You have awesome organizational and project management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • You are an avid learner - you aren’t intimidated by what you don’t know and are comfortable seeking answers.
  • Social media & community building is your jam - you have a strong understanding of social media platforms, online communities, and you can balance creative ideas with quantitative analysis of their performance.
  • You approach the world with optimism and a belief that anything is possible.
  • You’re not afraid to bring new, creative ideas to the table and you pride yourself on following through on the ideas you pursue.
  • You have a natural disposition to making friends - you love meaningful conversation, don’t shy away from group environments, and create a sense of belonging for the people you meet.

Bonus Points!

  • You have experience with Canva, Adobe Illustrator, or Figma and have an eye for clean design
  • You love taking photos and know your way around Photoshop
  • You have a genuine interest in wellness and attainable behavioral change
  • You have a passion for the nonalcholic industry
  • Experience using Asana or other project management tools

Benefits + Perks:

  • Salary: Competitive based on experience
  • Uncapped growth and development: exposure to all facets of the business and a leader who prioritizes career development
  • Health insurance
  • Impact: as one of our first core hires, your ideas and contributions will drastically shape the trajectory of the business
  • Annual tickets and expenses paid to participate in music festivals and events including Coachella, Stagecoach, and more
  • ~Iconic~ events and collaborations with awesome brands, bars and restaurants, thought leaders, and personalities
  • Really great co-workers :)
  • Equity: you get to own a piece of a quickly growing start-up
