About Public Risk Innovation, Solutions, and Management

PRISM is a joint powers authority established in 1979 and provides coverage programs and risk management services to over 2,100 California public entities including counties, cities, schools, joint powers authorities, special districts, etc.

PRISM's risk-sharing coverage programs include workers' compensation, general liability, property, medical malpractice, and employee benefits programs. Additionally, PRISM provides 21 miscellaneous programs such as cyber, crime, aircraft, and personal lines coverages.

The Communications Specialists handles content management, internal and external communications, presentation management, information output, social media and/or advertising. The Communication Specialist is a part of the Member Services Department and reports directly to the Chief Member Services Officer.

Job Duties

The Communications Specialist is the editor of PRISM’s newsletters and mailings, including ELink, The Education Connection, and Coming Soon. They are the editor of our Annual Report. They oversee online communications and social media including our message board (over 1,400 industry personnel participate) and the PRISM LinkedIn page. They create and manage event content for member meetings such as Board meeting announcements and the generation of power point presentations for Board and Executive Committee meetings, PRISM Health Symposium, and Public Entity meetings. They interview members and create Member Spotlights. They are the content manager for the PRISM website and generate marketing materials for events.

They create a quarterly Communications Report to analyze where we are effective and where we can improve. In everything they do, they work with a team and make us look better!

Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications. A generous benefit package is provided including Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) health benefits, dental, vision, long-term disability, life insurance, PERS retirement, deferred compensation program, sick leave, vacation leave, and section 125 cafeteria benefits. PRISM employees do not pay into Social Security except for the Medicare portion of the cost. PRISM offers a Work from Home Policy to employees that meet the established requirements.
