Hudson Advisors (“Hudson”) is a deeply experienced manager of commercial real estate, corporate, and financial assets. Its commercial real estate platform has managed more than 50,000 cumulative assets totaling more than $72 billion across the U.S., Europe, and Japan, including REITs, hotels, office buildings, multifamily housing, industrial buildings, golf courses, mixed-use, and retail properties across the capital stack. Hudson also offers a wide range of risk management, capital markets advisory, and credit/asset finance solutions to financial sponsors, privately held and publicly traded companies, and sophisticated investors, including pension funds and private equity funds. Hudson includes an operations platform that provides world-class legal, accounting, tax, portfolio management, and client reporting support to its client-facing Real Estate, Private Equity, and Financial Markets teams. Since 1995, Hudson has provided due diligence and analysis, asset management, and ancillary and other support services to the private equity firm Lone Star Funds (“Lone Star”) as well as to the private equity funds advised by Lone Star Global Acquisitions, Ltd. (the “Lone Star Funds”) and their investments, which include commercial real estate assets, operating companies, and various financial assets.
Position Summary:
The Associate will support Hudson’s multifamily team, working closely with Lone Star, by assisting in the asset management, value creation, and overall business plan execution process for multifamily investments owned by various affiliates of Lone Star Funds. He / she will also participate in occasional due diligence, underwriting, and general acquisition activities related to new multifamily investment opportunities.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and maintain investment models using Microsoft Excel.
  • Perform regular market visits and property inspections for assigned assets.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge regarding capital markets activity in various geographic regions targeted by the firm.
  • Prepare and present regular asset performance reports to senior management.
  • Responsible for the oversight, coordination, and execution of value-add renovations and capital improvements.
  • Provide guidance, training, and professional development to junior team members.
  • Direct responsibility for the management of certain acquired multifamily investments owned by affiliates of Lone Star.
  • Implement and effectuate annual business plans through actively overseeing property management, leasing, accounting, legal, appraisal, tax, as well as third-party consultants.
  • Prepare financial analyses (such as cash flow models, valuations, risk return analysis, and hold/sell scenarios) to evaluate property-related investment strategies, as well as additional ad-hoc analysis on portfolio performance and asset management initiatives.
  • Manage and lead asset disposition processes, including broker selection, negotiating purchase and sale contracts with prospective buyers, and closing.
  • Develop detailed business plans and annual operating budgets for each assigned portfolio / asset.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • A thorough understanding of real estate investment fundamentals, market trends, corporate finance and value.
  • Extensive experience and strong passion for working with institutional multifamily investments & capital sources/investors.
  • Self-motivated, self-teacher, and quick learner; able to pick up the technical skills necessary for any project.
  • Exposure to a wide range of multifamily investment strategies; value-add renovation and asset re-positioning experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and manage time.
  • Strong experience developing and maintaining relationships.
  • Prior acquisitions & underwriting experience is a plus
  • Proven competence in maximizing asset / portfolio financial performance.
  • Excellent financial modeling skills (Microsoft Excel) and highly proficient with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in financing, real estate, or a related business field required (advanced degree or CFA designation preferred, but not required)
Experience:
  • 4-6 years of direct multifamily investment experience.
  • Strong preference for value-add experience.
  • Experience with a wide variety of multifamily investment strategies in geographically diverse markets.
Other Skills:
  • Expertise required in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (Microsoft Office Suite).
Work Environment:
  • Job operates in a professional office environment.
  • Role generally requires full-time in-office presence – 60+ hours per week.
Travel Requirements:
  • Role requires frequent domestic travel.
