COMMERCIAL EXCELLENCE (COMEX), MANAGER


BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE AND COMMERCE EXCELLENCE (BICE) – NEW YORK

In an effort to reinforce the long term profitable planning and strategy, we seek a “Commercial Excellence (COMEX) Manager” Lead and centralize across divisions the long-term Business strategy by providing an unbiased perspective fueled by data analytics and market insights. To support the other commercial functions by establishing disciplines and drumbeats in which 5Ps are top of mind as well as achieving financial Goals. To serve as link between Global and local initiatives and facilitate the accomplishment of key objectives by providing in-depth research and clear recommendations.


Specifically, this role will Lead multiple centralized business processes to build a fully integrated growth model to drive the business objectives by identifying priorities and glidepath with a very strong business acumen on how to drive the financial viability of strategic plans


The COMEX Manager will work with both with the US local team and Global associates


In this role you will be responsible for:


Strategy : Strongly influence the long-term direction for the business and how to gain market share by balancing priorities and financial commitments. Input a direction on categories and brands portfolio strategy based on key bets. Partner with Global Brand Leads to drive brand strategies, partner with finance on P&L targets.


Data analytics : Great expertise in data to ensure facts are at the center of our decision making by ensure we quantitatively measure what & how we are doing with clear recommendation for acceleration/course correction


Leadership and ownership: Strategic insight coupled with highly developed listening & influencing skills along with confidence to have an independent positioning to ensure the right decision is made. Comfortable with being independent in thought and to take a stance that is fact driven.


Building long term robust strategies: r ooted in facts and data and may contradict existing thinking. Challenging the status quo/Visionary thinking & strong assertiveness skills


Agile thinking to gather new learnings from different sources and quicker than usual timelines: ability to make connections and draw conclusions from a vast number of data & sources


4Ps:


Product: Lead the consolidation of brands 18m-3yrs plan to identify gaps vs 3 year planning goals and trigger action plans. Quarterly Review. Support Trade Marketing Strategy and P&L and coordinate meetings and presentation for annual Financial Plan Review


Promotion: Lead the consolidation of Strategy, local needs and C1 projections by brand and Retailer in alignment with Marketing and Trade Marketing. Lead and coordinate all touch points to submit information on time. Provide insights in post-mortem reviews to showcase competitive landscape and action plans


Placement: Provide insights and Support to Marketing and Trade Marketing to guarantee special formats and local priorities are sustained by Global in the long term until a new strategy or realities are put in place.


  • Cosmetics productivity: Support Trade Marketing and Marketing to provide potential gaps to increase productivity based on market realities and consumer behavior and build business case to Global team if necessary


Price: Lead rational, methodology, tools, P&L impact, meetings and alignment with NATL / Marketing and Trade Marketing


Qualifications


We’d love to see candidates who have:


Essential:


  • Independent thinker/outside in approach
  • Manages high complexity and insights from multiple sources to build string arguments with ease
  • Highly developed experience on how to put data at the heart of the business
  • CPG experience/Working with buyers & retailers (strategic revenue management)
  • Technical Skills: Strong Excel, Access and PowerPoint capabilities/know how a must.
  • Highly agile at influencing senior leaders


Desirable:


  • Experience in commercial functions (Sales, Marketing, Trade Marketing)
  • Local market experience
  • People Leadership of medium sized direct teams and large indirect teams. Strong focus on indirect people management and peer-level influencing
  • Strong capabilities of out-of-the-box thinking and innovation

Base Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
