Job Description

Job Summary
The Advisor for the Colorado Health Careers Collaborative at ACC is responsible for student support, outreach, recruitment, marketing, and program assessments associated with the collaborative. This program aims to recruit and enroll individuals from underserved communities between the ages of 15 to 24 years with minimal to no postsecondary experience into certificate, degree programs and employment in healthcare. As a member of Workforce and Community Programs, the Advisor joins an innovative team dedicated to student success, career and workforce development.
The Advisor will maintain a caseload of students that are participating in the Colorado Health Careers Academy. This position will support students as they progress through the academy and guide them toward higher education and employment by conducting focused support services including academic advising, academic progress review, and other activities that support student engagement and success. Additionally, the Advisor will facilitate workshops related to job search strategies and resume writing, and other activities that support student development, retention, and job placement.

  • Proven experience collaborating with faculty and other academic/instructional staff.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and use of the web.
  • Possesses leadership skills; interpersonal skills; decisiveness; problem-solving skills; ability to delegate effectively; time management skills.
Required Qualifications
  • Two years of student advising or client navigation.
  • Associate’s degree and two (2) years’ relevant experience or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building student services and resources for a college campus from the ground up.
  • Experience utilizing student information databases such as Banner and EAB Navigate or a similar platform
  • Development and management of summer programs
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry
  • Bilingual - Spanish preferred.
  • Experience convening large, cross-functional groups
Physical & Cognitive Demands
The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.

Advertised Salary Range
Salary range for this position is $47,321 - $53,000, commensurate with education and experience. AP 3-45 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
This position is grant-funded through August 31, 2024 and contingent upon continued funding at that time.
