OnsiteCollins Aerospace in Jacksonville FL has an immediate opening for a CNC Machine Operator - Level IV.
This individual will be responsible for tooling setup and machining new parts by executing programs and operating a variety of computer numerical control (CNC) or manual machines (3 axis and 5 axis CNC).
This position will be involved in new product testing and new production deployment. This person will liaise with other operators and departments where appropriate to ensure the Machining section meets the required demands and reports directly to the Machining Supervisor.

This position is located on Blount Island and will requires some travel between our 2 Jacksonville locations, Busch Drive location and Blount Island on an as needed basis.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Collins rules and codes of conduct
- Meet and sustain Certified Operator requirements
- Set-up and Operate multiple CNC Machine Centers
- Aid the setting up and proving out of programs with CNC Programmer
- Meet or exceed required output hours
- Provide continuous improvement ideas to support lean and CORE initiatives
- Create shop aids and standard work instruction for process improvements
- Cross-train on different types of machining centers
- Check parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
- Identify opportunities for program and work-holding improvements
- Maintain a teamworking mindset
- The machining of complex fiberglass and CFRP products
- Maintain a clean and hazard free work cell
- Support and manage the machine tooling to best achieve drawing tolerances, including offset adjustments and tool wear identification
- May perform other job duties as required and available for overtime as necessary
- Meet or exceed Machine Shop FPY requirements
- Communicate with co-workers and supervisor to coordinate activities
- Perform routine maintenance checks, reporting improper machine function and/or check parts not being held to the proper dimensions
- Perform all required preventive maintenance in work cell
- Look for ways to eliminate safety hazards and improve the overall safety of the workplace
- Support CORE and 5S housekeeping practices
- Participate in EHS risk reduction activities
- Maintain proper cutting conditions on machining centers
- Maintain proper documentation of executed operations
- Participate in all team stand-ups and uses safe ergonomic practices in performing job
- Achieve required part cosmetics with manual operations
- Coach proper usage and storing of measuring instruments to learn
- Maintain proper condition of measuring instruments
Basic Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
- Must have minimum of 2 years experience with Vertical 5 axis machine center experience.
- HS diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years of relevant machining experience. In the absence of a HS diploma or GED, 7 years of relevant machining experience is required.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to work in a standing position up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be willing to obtain certification to operate a powered industrial vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience utilizing various measuring/ inspection techniques
- Prior aerospace / marine industry experience is highly desirable.
Working Environment:
- Climate Controlled environment
- Workers must climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces.
- Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with mechanical lifting devices or assistance from other workers, if required.
- Will frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds).
- Occasional exposure to chemicals, wearing a respirator when required.
- Daily exposure to dust particulates
- Work assignments require moderate to strenuous effort.
