Machine Operator Job Title: Precision OD Grinder/Polisher- Lathe operator!!!!Department: Grinding and PolishingReports To: General ManagerMust read micrometers and hold close tolerance's Summary Set up and operate a variety of cylindrical grinding and polishing machines to grind work pieces to close finished tolerances. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may and will be assigned.Read and understand blueprint or layout on work piece to visualize grinding or polishing to be done; plan sequence of operations.Ability to accurately read and understand micrometers and or vernier calipers. Select proper grinding wheel or polishing belt for each application.Lift work piece, position and secure to holding device.Select feed rates, grinding speeds, depth of cuts, and grinding wheel of size, shape, and grade for each operation. Dress grinding wheels to complex profiles.Position and tighten stops to limit travel of work pieces, grinding wheel or polishing wheel.Move controls to position wheel and work piece in relation to each other, and set feed, speed, and depth of cut.Observe operation; adjust position and action of wheel and work piece.Verify dimensions of ground and/or polished work pieces for conformance to specifications.Work to tolerances of plus or minus 0003”.Measure and mark work piece to lay it out for grinding or polishing.Note: Same procedures as above for polishing parts.7:00am-3:30pm All candidates must submit to a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
