Job Description
Location: Field based role visiting practices within the North region, combined with some travel to our Handforth (Cheshire) Support Office. Our North region encompasses Scotland, the North West, North East, Yorkshire, Shropshire and Staffordshire

Salary: Up to £63,000 per annum + company car + benefits (including annual bonus, healthcare, pension, free shares and discount across the business)

About Us

The Pets at Home Vet Business has over 400 practices, many of which are operated as individual Joint Venture businesses, and the remainder are Company Owned. Our ambition is to be the best vet business in the world and we are committed to delivering innovative and world class clinical care. We are committed to supporting practices to build a culture of clinical excellence.

Our practices are responsible for delivering an exceptional standard of care to our clients and patients. Care that is patient-centred, evidence based, brand defining and innovative, given by talented, well trained, motivated, thoughtful and compassionate individuals working together as a strong team.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Development Manager to join our team to cover our North region of practices.

As a Clinical Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the clinical operations across regional practices in Northern UK. You will work collaboratively with multiple teams, build strong relationships with Practice Owners and provide clinical support and guidance to aid high-quality veterinary care and regulatory compliance. Working as part of the wider Pets business, you will help to forge links with our pet care centres, fostering collaboration and synergy between veterinary services and other pet care offerings.

Joint Venture Partners (JVPs) are practice owners and clinical freedom is the mainstay of our unique model. We firmly believe in the value of their expertise and experience. As a result, our primary focus is to provide comprehensive support to practice owners, fostering a collaborative environment and we are dedicated to nurturing their individual visions and aspirations, working hand-in-hand to ensure their practices thrive and continue to deliver exceptional care for their patients

Regular travel is involved with this role, and our preference is for the successful candidate to be located within the North of the UK.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Conducting regular clinical reviews of practices, supporting adherence to regulatory requirements, RCVS guidance and Practice Standards
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to enhance patient care, client satisfaction and overall practice performance
  • Offering expert advice and mentorship to clinical teams, helping them stay up-to-date and compliant with advancements in veterinary medicine and techniques
  • Identifying training needs within your region and working closely with the Clinical Education team to design and deliver appropriate training programs
  • Organising and facilitating regional clinical meetings, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and continuous learning
  • Working closely with Practice Owners to facilitate their clinical goals and initiatives and alignment with the organisation's overall clinical and operational objectives
  • Leading and supporting business projects as the trusted clinical advisor, providing valuable insights and ensuring clinical considerations are integrated into decision-making processes

About You

You'll be a veterinary surgeon and registered Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). A post-graduate qualification is desired, though not essential, and you'll have experience of delivering clinical expertise from within a clinical role, showing a strong understanding of veterinary practice standards, regulatory compliance and RCVS guidance.

This is a leadership role and so you will have a proven ability to lead and inspire teams, build collaborative relationships and influence positive change.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital as these will enable you to effectively liaise with JVPs, practice teams and stakeholders at all levels. Your organisation and problem- solving skills will also be strong as you'll need to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines whilst being analytical in your mindset. You'll identify issues, propose solutions and drive continuous improvement.

Your adaptability will also be crucial. You'll be flexible to adapt to changing priorities and environments whilst maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

Our diversity and inclusion vision is that everyone is welcome and feels part of our group. If you think you're a good match to what we are looking for, and you share our belief that together ‘we're better with pets', we'd like to hear from you, whatever your background or circumstances

Join us now and you can be part of that journey, developing your future as we develop ours. This is a place where you can take pride and passion in your work within an inspiring, professional team that's focused on supporting pets and their owners to live happier lives together.
