Help us achieve safety, well-being, and permanency for children, and success in providing services for families in our communities by assisting the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in an important function that provides clinical expertise to caseworkers and supervisors in the region and to allied partners in the community.
This recruitment is open only to current employees of Western Region of DCFS. Only current DCFS employees of Western Region will be considered for interviews.
Starting Pay is $29.10.
This position will be filled as a 2 Year Career Mobility.
This position is open to telework options. The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.
Principal duties
The Clinical Consultant in this position provides clinical consultation for Western region, meets with supervisors and caseworkers in the region to discuss difficult, sensitive, or critical cases, and provides direction and clinical insight on social service components including placement, permanency, sibling relations, and treatment needs and/or plans. They collaborate with community partners and treatment providers to oversee and review the clinical treatment of children placed in residential placements to assure youth are receiving and benefiting from appropriate services; and assist caseworkers and front line supervisors in providing permanency, safety and well-being for the most fragile children in DCFS care. They accomplish this by also performing the following tasks:
- Testifying in court or hearings regarding actions, findings, procedures, and protocols, etc.
- Developing and implementing procedures in response to agency policy, state, and federal laws, etc.
- Completing 90-day and QRTP Executive Reviews on cases; continually working with caseworkers on reminding them of the upcoming reviews.
- Providing consultation, making recommendations, giving appropriate advice, and facilitating decisions.
- Attending Child and Family Team Meetings with caseworkers and provide clinical support.
- Completing QTRP forms for the Executive Review Committee as well as working with caseworkers in regards to these forms/reviews.
- Providing clinical services involving individual, family, group counseling.
- Coordinating and referring services of community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the court, and other community partners with families.
- Delivering presentations, stand up training and instruction to staff, management, clients, or the general public.
- Understanding Domestic Violence policy and resources in order to help coordinate with caseworkers to find community resources and services for clients.
The Ideal Candidate
The model candidate for this position is someone who:
- Is effective in gaining a quick knowledge of agency and community resources and services.
- Holds a clinical licensure from the State of Utah such as Psychologist, Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist or as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor.
- Is a current employee of the Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS).
- Develops and maintains applicable professional contacts, resources, and networks.
- Is proficient at providing excellent consultation, expert advice, and testimony.
- Is adept at interacting professionally with all levels of management while managing a diversified workload and challenging situations.
Preference may be given to applicants with 5 or more years of child welfare experience.
- All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA).
- Travel required to and/or between the DCFS offices throughout the Western Region; you may be required to use your personal vehicle to perform the duties of this position; approved mileage is reimbursable through State Finance.

Working Conditions
