Medical Laboratory Technician - Certification Eligible

Performs duties of a certified Medical Laboratory Technician under supervision. A licensed Medical Laboratory Technician / Clinical Laboratory Technician or a Medical Technologist must verify all results performed by a certification eligible Medical Laboratory Technician.

This position is a temporary assignment for recently-graduated students from an approved school for Medical Laboratory Technicians / Clinical Laboratory Technicians, who are eligible to challenge the national certification examinations such as the MLT(ASCP) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or CLT(NCA) from the National Certifying Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel. These candidates are promoted to Medical Laboratory Technician (Registered) upon proof of certification and licensure.

Associate degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with successful completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program including clinical training covering chemistry, hematology, immunohematology, microbiology, serology, phlebotomy, urinalysis and recordkeeping. The accreditation held by the program must be nationally recognized in clinical laboratory science, such as the National Agency on Accreditation for Clinical Laboratory Scientists (NAACLS) and make the trainee eligible to challenge a national certification examination such as the MLT(ASCP) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or CLT(NCA) from the National Certifying Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel.
