POSITION: Childrenswear Design & Product Development Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Participate in research and inspiration to create a cohesive concept each season, review emerging trends and shapes, and research local markets

• Develop flat sketches & color Cads in Illustrator for all designs each season

• Ability to create graphics, patterns, layouts, and colors ups in Illustrator

• Coordinate with RTW team when necessary to ensure collection aligns cohesively and represents the brand’s overall aesthetic and vision

• Help organize & participate in fittings, by prepping samples, spec’ing garments, and taking notes

• Support in the setup of technical packages for overseas development

• Follow up and daily communication with overseas factories and suppliers

• Prepare & help set up all necessary components for design presentations, proto reviews, and production meetings.

• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to maintain strong business relationships

• Support sample review sessions, provide recommendations, notate feedback, and update sketches & tech packs as necessary

• Organize and keep excellent records each season of fabric, trims, and sample approvals

• Maintain accuracy of tech packs throughout the development process, including updating BOM page, specs, and sketches when needed

• Track samples throughout the development process, with an understanding of lead-times

• Create line sheets seasonally with accurate product images & information to present to buyers

• Manage a library of samples each season, by organizing, tagging, and storing samples each season

• Organize and assist in seasonal photoshoots & castings

• Provides support for the Childrenswear division

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferably with an emphasis on Fashion Design or Product Development

• 1+ years’ experience as an Assistant Apparel Designer or related

• Technical knowledge of fabrics, construction, fit, silhouettes, prints, colors, and trims

• Strong graphic Design skills, with proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

• Familiar with PLM systems such as WFX and Net Suite

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook

• Strong sense of urgency, highly organized, and superior attention to detail

• Knowledge/ Interest in childrenswear is preferred

• Excellent time management skills, and task completion

• Must be able to effectively communicate with international vendors and cross functional team members
