Chief Technology Officer (CTO)



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to set strategy and make executive technology decisions on behalf of the organization including managing a technology budget and making the necessary investments to align the organization with its vision for its technological needs. If you are a technology visionary with expertise in technological development who executes that vision, we want to hear from you! Working directly with the CEO, you will act as both a technology and business expert, making decisions impacting current and future operations. As the CTO, you will oversee all technology and technological resources, establish the technology vision, strategies, and growth plans. You will also lead system and quality assurance processes to ensure the protection of Utilities’ assets while maintaining and evolving technology needs. For this role, we are seeking expertise supporting a growth strategy by expanding existing customer relationships, anticipating current and future needs, developing new business opportunities, and cultivating partner relationships. Additionally, the CTO holds the fiduciary responsibility for developing, administering, monitoring, and coordinating the enterprise technology budget as decisions related to technology needs influence spending patterns for departments and programs across the organization.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Working with engineering teams to articulate technical requirements in order to take roadmap initiatives through the development lifecycle from prototype to generally available to end of life.
  • Leading your team in identifying, comparing, selecting, and implementing technology solutions and partnerships to meet current and future needs.
  • Conducting research to remain up-to-date and knowledge regarding industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new processes and system alterations, as well as to analyzing and improving technology standards across the organization to maintain a technological advantage.
  • Providing technical leadership at the enterprise level and serve an integral role in operations and business development.
  • Advocating and communicating technology capabilities internally and externally, including leadership, Utilities Board, customers, partners, and vendors.
  • Sharing information and developing a collective understanding of programs and issues. Structuring technology policies, procedures, and standards to ensure organizational success.
  • Translating the core strategic vision into a prioritized roadmap, maintaining best practices and process related to product planning and overall product lifecycle management.
  • Lead a direct team of 175 + FTE and 100+ contractors.
  • Making technology-related recommendations supported by data for policy adoption that includes analysis of current regulatory actions, technological innovations, and fiduciary considerations.
  • Managing the entire product development lifecycle (PDL) and software development lifecycle (SDLC) from concept to strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Developing a staffing plan and performance management/motivation to hire and retain industry-leading talent.
  • Working with the executive management team, sales and marketing to understand business drivers, market requirements and competitive issues and design products accordingly. Similarly, ensure organizational alignment on readiness for new releases in the sales/delivery channels.
  • Actively engaging with customers and proactively evangelize TeleTracking’s offerings to customers, potential customers and partners.
  • Optimize the product portfolio, determine core products, product migration and consolidation priorities, and cross-product initiatives including product integration.
  • Increasing portfolio value and expand market share by ensuring a customer-centric product development and innovation roadmap.
  • Managing, maintain, transform and grow the existing suite of products.
  • Tracking and controlling the developments of annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing and technology operations


Requirements And Skills


  • Tangible experience with cloud migration and developing and deploying cloud-based infrastructure and services; experience up-leveling and training teams around cloud/SaaS methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, build, mentor and direct a high-performing, cohesive team. Evidence of leading diverse teams through influence to achieve shared objectives.
  • Your experience includes executive leadership roles demonstrating a track record of technology innovation, design, development, and implementation. Typically, this experience would include at least 15 years with organizational management, process improvement successes, strong financial acumen, successes leading complex contractual relationships, excellent understanding of customer behavior, and keen insights regarding technology and business trends.
  • Strategic thinker and effective communicator offering expertise in technological development and the demonstrated ability to implement and execute organizationally.
  • Experience working and influencing across geographic and functional boundaries. Demonstrated understanding of global market dynamics and issues.
  • Demonstrated success delivering customer-centric tools adding value to the end uses while also anticipating internal operational needs and delivering tools that result in value-added services to the organization.
  • Success creating and executing strategic roadmaps and establishing release cadences. Experience implementing current SaaS development methodologies and best practices (including design, implementation and operation of distributed services/APIs.


Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field; Master’s degree in business or a technology-related discipline preferred.
