Job
The Chief Growth Officer is responsible for managing business interactions between Ardent and the portfolio relationship across The Ardent Company and their brand portfolio. This role will work hand-in-hand with Ardent coaches as portfolio liaisons, provide founders with the resources and support they need to scale and succeed. The Chief Growth Officer must also work closely with Ardent Partners, investors, and other stakeholders to ensure that our support model (internally known as “Fuel”) is meeting its goals and objectives. In addition to managing the operations of Fuel, this role must also be a strategic thinker, able to understand unique founder needs and challenges.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the spirits industry and a deep understanding of the start-up/small company landscape, as well as strong operational capabilities, understanding business objectives and being able to distill and execute. Ultimately, the success of the Fuel program depends on the ability of this person to build strong relationships with stakeholders, foster a culture of learning, coaching and collaboration, and provide brands in our portfolio with the support they need to succeed.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Partnership with our Founders
  • Provide board members with an understanding of Quarterly fuel activities and correlating performance insights to drive confidence in the Ardent / FLB relationship and value
  • Drive the conversation and execution of the rolling bi-annual Business Plan cycle, incorporating all relevant Brand (Founder & Senior Team) and Ardent stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities in, and improve upon, the partnership, platforms and ways of working of our founder-led businesses
  • Oversight of Cross-functional team collaboration for all Founder support needs
  • Oversee the process of follow-on funding (FoF) helping to prepare, partner and guide Founders through the end-to-end FoF process
  • Influence key communications, briefings and presentations; attend and steer key business meetings; assist in seamless information flow between Founders and Ardent experts
  • Identify Founder strengths and opportunities in business acumen and help balance out to create a holistic and strong business strategy
Growth & Education (Fuel)
  • Partner with senior leadership to develop short- and long-term Fuel roadmaps
  • Work closely with other departments, such as marketing, sales, and product development, to ensure that partnerships are aligned with the company's overall strategy.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and making adjustments as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices and incorporate them into the program
  • Ensure all deliverables and the execution of content for FLBs is in line with Ardent branding & standards
  • Act as the Ardent Expert on commercial Fuel needs (in partnership with the Head of Brand)
  • Oversee the lifecycle of training development, design and delivery across the Fuel roadmap
  • Partner with other Ardent Experts to assess FLB training needs, identifying areas where learning programs can improve performance.
  • Lead a team of specialists to support the ideation and creation of all Fuel content for Founders

Experience Needed
  • Ability to make effective, quick and measured decisions with intellect; leveraging analytical strength and instinct equally to make the right decisions
  • Track record of driving complex projects in the face of ambiguity, yielding successful results
  • Experience managing budgets and allocating resources
  • Drinks industry experience within a start-up environment
  • Empathy and respect for founders
  • 8+ years’ experience including 3+ years serving as a strategic partner to executive leadership on initiatives including: commercial strategy, special projects, communication & business planning (food or drinks industry ideal)
  • Strong understanding of business, finance & analytics
  • Experience leading a team
