Job Title: Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)
Location: Newton / Watertown area (Hybrid)
Client: Financial Services industry
Compensation: Targeting $275-300K annual base salary plus bonus, equity/options, and benefits
Scope of Position / Overview of Responsibilities
Reporting to the CFO, this VP level position will lead the accounting, tax and treasury functions and will be responsible for maintaining accurate books and records for a large, privately held financial services client. This individual will provide strategic thought leadership in support of the company's growth agenda. Seeking an energetic and experienced leader. This team is expanding to support long-term growth.
· Set strategic direction for the team
· Provide thought leadership; act as a subject matter expert
· Recruit, motivate, and develop a high performing team
· Build strong relationships across the company and external stakeholders
· Manage monthly close and annual audit, ensuring books and records are accurate
· Ensure adherence to GAAP and conformity with all regulatory requirements
· Optimize balance sheet and capital resources to ensure financial strength and flexibility
· Maintain banking relationships
· Lead the team through the assessment and mitigation of financial and operational risk
· Tighten controls, evaluate procedures, and automate processes to improve efficiency
Qualifications
· Active CPA certification, ideally with a public accounting background having supported financial services
· Targeting 15 years of experience, including a strong accounting leadership background in financial services
· Prior experience leading an accounting/finance team
· Solid background with Tax and Treasury
· Ability to manage complex accounting, financial, and regulatory matters or processes
· Experience developing, establishing, and operating financial policies and procedures
