Job Description


The Category Manager role involves using the 7-step sourcing process to partner with cross-functional stakeholder teams in strategic initiatives for Logistics spend categories. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing contracting strategies and procurement activities for challenging logistics projects across all brands within Carnival Corporation & plc. The job includes achieving cost efficiencies, fostering supplier partnerships, and cultivating qualified sources while collaborating with internal teams within Carnival brands towards the company's financial and sustainability goals. This role may also entail supporting other categories in the strategic sourcing of technical and corporate shipbuilding.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure cross-functional engagement and support of category projects and initiatives.
  • Manage effective supplier relationships, leveraging data, metrics, and internal feedback to drive results.
  • Negotiate cost, capacity, and service level agreements for global logistics spend using standard contracts while coordinating leadership and legal reviews as needed.
  • Research best practices and conduct baseline due diligence to understand opportunities for cost savings and/or service level improvement in all logistics categories including ocean and air freight, trucking, warehousing & distribution, and shipyard logistics.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on logistics to global sourcing organization, operating brands, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop an effective strategic sourcing plan for logistics categories and projects that create long-term value in coordination with operating brands.
  • Develop and implement logistics related processes to improve overall supply chain efficiency as needed, and maintain relationships, conduct quarterly business reviews, and ensure active measurement of performance for all service providers.
  • Work with Manager to establish targets, track, meet, and report results in monthly reports and other department performance metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required Years & Area of Professional Experience: 7+ years of experience in logistics with strong knowledge of multi-modal logistics pricing structure (ocean, truck, air, and customs brokerage) preferably in a high-volume environment.
  • Preferred Experience and Type: Preferred experience working for Transport & Logistics companies (air & ocean carriers, freight forwarders, trucking & warehousing, or significant experience procuring these services on behalf of a high-volume Shipper/BCO.
  • Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in related fields and 5 years relevant experience, or a combination of college, significant relevant experience, and professional certifications.
  • Other Requirements: Occasional in-person meetings in South Florida at Doral HQ Office (3-4 times per year).
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Strong project management skills; Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and other supply chain management tools; Knowledge of logistics and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); Familiarity with e-sourcing platforms, procurement software, and contract management systems; Understanding of data analytics and experience working with large datasets; Familiarity with database management and reporting tools; Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing systems and processes.
  • Education/Major: Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree a Plus in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related disciplines

The range for this role’s base salary is $90,000 - $120,000. Offers to select candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
