Job Description

Position Overview: The Category Development Manager is responsible for execution of the Post Refrigerated Retail Business go to market strategy for assigned product portfolio. This person is primarily responsible for analyzing customer, market, and consumer insight data to build sound business recommendations and develop high quality supporting presentations. This person will supply relevant and necessary insights (solutions/recommendations), which are gathered from consumption data (IRI & AC Nielsen), shipment data, spending, and consumer insights for improved decision-making capabilities.


Accountabilities:

  • Develop Category Management relationships at customers that establish Bob Evans as the go-to resource for Category Management insights and business process Best Practices.
  • Participate with Post Refrigerated Retail Sales Team in identifying and presenting recommendations for category growth.
  • Own process and necessary analytics to evaluate post event information and draw conclusions – focus on the objective of “maximization of funds”.
  • Data Collection o Provide information for customers, Business Development Managers, and internal teams using syndicated or customer-specific data sources. o Lead IRI Assortment Tool.
  • Data Analysis/Interpretation and Application
  • Track progress and impact of Retail Pricing strategies and work with the teams to assess and propose future pricing actions.
  • Accelerate JDA Assortment engagement.
  • Project/Customer Management and Support
  • Provide category management insights and actionable recommendations that drive category growth for customers. Provide detailed category analysis and recommendations in the areas of product assortment, placement, pricing, and promotion that will drive category sales.
  • Create a national selling story by collecting data and organizing into a compelling sales story for presentation to Customer Account Managers and/or Customers by developing actionable business insights.
  • Manage and maintain ongoing relationships for category management activities.
  • Provide regular consumption updates with an assessment of brand, category, and competitive issues/opportunities.
  • Maintain project schedules by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.


Experience and Education:

  • Working knowledge of space planning tools preferred (JDA and/ or Apollo).
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Business or related field. • Graduate Degree preferred in Business or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of Syndicated Data (Nielsen/ IRI, Spectra, Panel Data).
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience supporting category/ sales.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
