Description


Manages the planning, forecasting and supply chain modeling and execution related to the global inbound freight movement to the distribution center network. Directly interfaces with external partners including overseas buying offices, appointed ocean carrier manager and ocean carriers to execute inbound supply chain programs. Works with Merchant teams to collaborate on inbound freight savings opportunities to optimize global inbound freight spend. Manages all dray carrier relationships and contracts as part of the ocean carrier merchant haulage program and manages import deconsolidation operations. Develops and coaches team members including provider on-site resource(s) to achieve department and corporate objectives.

1. Manages the planning and forecasting of global inbound freight spend in conjunction with Merchandise Planning and Finance.
2. Participates in and provides analysis for ocean carrier strategy and negotiations to maintain cost effective logistics rates and is responsible for managing the bid process and bid analysis toolset.
3. Oversees the carrier contracting and contract amendment process.
4. Manages the financial forecasting, analysis and reporting of import freight dollar variance. Adjusts the import load within the import data management process as market and costs dictate.
5. Manages import deconsolidation operations including bid processes, contracting, standard operating procedures and daily execution.
6. Collaborates with Merchant teams to identify and implement supply chain solutions to reduce global inbound transportation spend and support Merchant evaluation of new vendors and/or sourcing locations.
7. Develops and maintains import data management and transit matrix toolsets to ensure merchants properly load transportation costs into purchase order and maintain adequate lead-times.
8. Oversees and performs a variety of ad hoc transportation projects and analysis as needed.
9. Manages processing of all freight audits and claims for global ocean transportation through the third-party ocean carrier manager.
10. Develops, implements and ensures compliance with Standard Operating Procedures that must be followed by outsource ocean carrier management provider on all global inbound shipments.
11. Teaches Merchant and Global Sourcing teams on global ocean import processes and process compliance.
12. Carries out all the responsibilities to supervise the department which includes the hiring process, providing teaching, communications, monitoring performance standards, policy administration, timekeeping, pay processing, and other leadership tasks for assigned associates.



Qualification


1. Five to seven years supervisory experience within a transportation environment required. Experience with global transportation experience preferred.
2. Associates Degree in supply chain management required; Bachelor’s degree in transportation and logistics strongly preferred.
3. Strong accounting, financial, and regulatory knowledge and experience required.
4. Strong oral and written communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills required.
5. Experience working within an outsourced provider base as well as matrixed organization required.
6. Understanding of advanced global transportation planning and management systems preferred.
7. Experience working with external partners and suppliers.
8. Ability to travel both internationally and domestically for extended periods of time.
