Description
This position is primarily responsible for performing drafting and engineering functions specific to transportation design under the direction of a Professional Engineer. In addition, this position will assist in the execution and management of CAD standards specific to Transportation.
Essential Functions:

• Identify and recommend process improvements and enhancements on existing projects and processes
• Uses AutoDesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD and/or Microstation and Open Roads Designer to develop engineering and design documents.
• Perform basic calculations to analyze and design civil system components using Civil 3D or MicroStation.
• Communicate with design team about concepts, data, and specific needs associated with the completion of design deliverables.
• Convert data between standard spatial data formats, including but not limited to AutoCAD or MicroStation..
• Prepare reports, recommendations and opinions for approval by a supervising Professional Engineer..
• Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.
• Create a storm design and profiles in pipe networks.
• Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings from general written or verbal specifications.
• Develop, implement, and document data management workflows, specifications, and processes
• Participate in firm-wide quality initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.
• Build 2D and 3D models from a variety of information sources following company standards.
• Assist with engineering duties on projects of various complexity.
• Manage personal task assignments and adheres to project scope of work, schedule and budget on all assigned tasks.

Requirements

• Must be able to apply mathematical concepts.
• High School Diploma or GED Required
• Must have 3+ years related experience.
• Must have average verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external relationships.
• Must have Microsoft Office suite skills.
• Must be able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, and/or members of the business community.
• Must possess a highly proficient expertise in AutoDesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD software or Microstation and Open Roads Designer.
• Associate Degrees in Computer-Aided drafting and Design is advantageous, but not required.
• Must be able to read, analyze and interpret basic technical documents.

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to occasionally reach and bend.
• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to operate and manipulate standard office equipment.
