Business Intelligence Developer Jobs

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer within STAAR Surgical’s Information Technology team, this individual plays a critical role working closely with the business and across the Information Technology organization defining, delivering, and supporting IT business solutions and supporting roadmaps. As an integral member of the data analytics team responsible for the development and administration of BI tools. Provides data driven insights to the business to improve decision making and support business users. Applies their knowledge of business intelligence and analytics best practices, documentation, and technologies. Understands the business implications of technical and analytics solutions. The role involves collaborating with Business, internal and external IT stakeholders at all levels to ensure the implementation is adding value to the business.

• A passion for understanding business questions and developing business insights

• Build rich dashboards, write DAX expressions, and also implement security.

• Owns stakeholder relationships and works with business users to define and analyze problems and align the most appropriate data and technical solutions.

• Prepare and review visualizations to promote internal understanding and clearly articulate insights.

• Solicits, develops, documents and manages requirements and provides detailed design and business rules to support the requirements throughout project life cycle up to and through change control.

• Reviews system test plans and system tests modules before implementation.

• Works with the user to select or create appropriate scenarios to test all results to determine whether system changes met project specifications; uses scenarios to assist the end user in acceptance testing.

• Ensures that documentation is updated when change requests are approved for the project.

• Monitors and measures end user adoption and customer satisfaction

• Continuous learner of new advancements, STAAR Surgical-specific technologies, system behavior and business processes as they relate to customer needs.

• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & TRAINING

• Prefer Undergraduate degree and 4-6 years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 2-4 years relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE

• 4-6 years relevant work experience

• Experience in development and administration of BI tools.

• Experience in building rich dashboards, write DAX expressions, and also implement security

• Experience with data security principles and ensure appropriate security practices are embedded in data solutions

• Experience working on cloud data warehousing technologies like Snowflake and Azure data services

SKILLS

Proficient knowledge on Power BI platform and its tools. Takes complete responsibility of the development and administration of BI tools.

• Study, analyze and understand business requirements in context to business intelligence.

• Design and map data models from snowflake into meaningful insights in Power BI.

• Utilize Power BI to build interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports.

• Spot key performance indicators with clear objectives in Power BI

• Analyze pervious and present data for better decision making

• Transform business requirements into technical documentation

• Develop strong data documentation about algorithms, parameters, models

• Perform detailed analysis on tested and deployed Power BI scripts

• Run DAX queries and functions in Power BI

• Experience working on cloud data warehousing technologies like Snowflake and Azure data services

• Knowledge about database management, SQL querying, data modeling, Online Analytical Processing.

• Exceptional business and interpersonal skills with proven ability to work across business to influence and affect change to achieve common goals.
