Job Description
The Enterprise Software Solutions department at Argonne National Laboratory invites you to join our team in a learning and collaborative environment. We are responsible for supporting the Laboratory’s enterprise software to further the mission of the lab.
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to provide strategy and technical insight in designing and supporting business processes and services while aligning to software development methodology best practices. The role will be responsible for researching, planning, coordinating, and creating conceptual design requirements. The successful candidate will have a proven record of requirement analysis, problem solving, and solution design and will be able to use those skills to create new solutions or revise existing ones.
In addition, the candidate must demonstrate an ability to work well within a team by exhibiting strong collaboration skills, team and customer focus, and an ability to work with senior management – all in a dynamic environment. The position requires learning agility, perseverance, and strong communication skills.
This role is an active collaborator on multiple scrum teams with the following responsibilities:
  • Delivering the ‘what’, ‘why’ and business value to the team in the form of a user story with supporting acceptance criteria for refinement
  • Providing status, support, and feedback to stakeholders on requests relating to stories
  • Collaborating with the Product Owner and Product Manager to understand business strategy and deliver value for products
  • Driving collaboration with stakeholders to gather story details
  • Working with the team to identify and split up deliverables to support successful sprints
Full time remote is an option for this role.
Position Requirements
Required technical skills:
  • Analyze and evaluate operational processes and flows to create initiatives and priorities for a pipeline of recommended enhancements.
  • Document the business analysis process and tool functionality for training purposes.
  • Develop good peer-to-peer working relationships with both internal and external business partners.
  • Function as a liaison between business users, functional subject matter experts, systems analysts, and technical developers.
  • Create requirements definitions and technical specifications documentation.
  • Conduct discovery sessions with business end users to understand current state operational challenges and problems.
  • Research, plan, coordinate, and provide solutions on conceptual design requirements.
  • Translate technical specifications into business requirements and vice versa.
  • Some experience with data analysis, data integrations, and/or business intelligence applications.
  • Report on progress for initiatives and day-to-day work.
  • Create strategies for testing and proving proposed prototypes and full solutions.
  • Experience with office application tools (e.g., Power Point, Excel, Word, Visio)

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: This requisite level of knowledge and skill is typically achieved through a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Informatics, Information Systems, or Computer Science and 4+ years in the information technology field.
