Position: Business Analyst

6-9 Month Contract to hire

Position Purpose: The Stellar Life Business Analyst acts as the liaison between business units and IT Programming staff in support of technology platforms used by the Company. There is a significant amount of time spent triaging application shortcomings, testing system enhancements and bug fixes, and developing business requirements. Business Analysts, dig deep into specific business areas and help define the details of how to drive business results through technology. Staff members work on cross-functional teams of product managers and subject matter experts in an agile methodology to deliver on outcomes.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Assist with coordinating and reviewing test plans for smaller or non-complex efforts. Independently provide execution on testing as needed (UAT, checkouts, etc.)
• Responsible for fact-based requirement gathering, including all system, technical and intake requests.Prepare, facilitate, document, and participate in client meetings/workshops conducting structured requirement gathering, research, and analysis
• Can use project management principles to successfully complete and advance work.Create business requirement documents (BRD's) that are broken down into use cases/functional specifications for customization.Analyze, develop, and propose enhancements to current business processes, reports, and applications in order to optimize system effectiveness.Produce high-quality verbal and written consulting deliverables (including proposals, customer presentations, consulting reports) to effectively communicate project findings. Performbasic scripting and project planning.
• Document and assess the current state in a few processes or a single business area / domain. Assist with task-based work items in more complex situations.
• Partners with peer group, business partners and product management to learn their business area/domain, while continuing to learn and grow their knowledge across the enterprise.
• Author low to medium complexity user stories and/or features independently while participating in some task-based work reflective of higher complexity situations. Assist throughout the development process as necessary.

Experience/Qualifications

• Experience in financial services industry preferred
• Must have demonstrated some cross functional work in previous experience
• Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents
• 1-3 years of prior experience with at least 1 working in a Business Analyst role
• Ability to lean on strong communication skills to influence outcomes. Approaches conflict with knowledge and judgment regarding the perspective of other staff members in the organization.
• Deep familiarity of agile & scrum development practices.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Experience in the Insurance sector related to products, processes, and technologies
• Proficiency with Excel and Data Analysis, including modelling, lookups and macro writing, data mapping, systems design, APIs, gap analysis, etc.
