Business Analyst I - Central Campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements and technology usability expectations. Champions these requirements within ITS to ensure that solutions are delivered, and expectations are met.

Essential Job Functions

Responsible for the gathering of business requirements. Works with College departments to ensure that business requirements are documented and met. Assists user groups in championing their business, software, and system requirements to ITS.

Analyzes regulatory rules and issues through consistent, concise reporting that identifies impact on current operations. Analyzes technology enabled business processes and usability standards and develops leading practice recommendations.

Performs business process modeling to assist with the recommendation and implementation of new functionality and system improvements. Makes suggestions based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration time for technology systems.

Develops and documents functional, usability, and technical specifications that are consistent with user requirements. Develops a mechanism for end-user feedback as new solutions are tested and implemented. Documents and communicates issues related to customization and interface requirements. This includes test scripts for functional and usability processing during system development and quality assurance testing.

Ensure quality assurance processes are being followed, including service levels as outlined in the ITS Service Level Agreement and change control procedures.

Serve as custodian of record for the records produced, ensuring retention practices are followed as outlined in related policy and procedure.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Balance between customer service, technical skills and an ability to interact with customers at any level within an organization required.

Must possess demonstrable knowledge of IT systems.

Ability to work well with others and to demonstrate an excellent quality of work with little or no supervision required.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills.

Ability to negotiate and build consensus among client and IT stakeholders.

Ability to analyze processes and make sound recommendations based on the College technology environment

Required Education

Associate's Degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Education

Bachelor's Degree or above in Information Technology or related field from an accredited institution preferred.

Required Experience

Minimum two (2) years of related IT work experience required.

Experience In Business Process Mapping Required.

Experience in systems testing required.

Preferred Experience

Experience in defining usability standards and UI/UX design and testing preferred.

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

Experience in Higher Education preferred.

The Certification of Competency in Business Analysis TM (CCBATM)

Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP )

Note: The duties of this position require a physical presence at the assigned on-site work location during unrestricted operations with very limited or no opportunity for remote work arrangements.

Salary Grade: 25
