The SCCC Scientist, SOM supports the University’s research goals and objectives by engaging in complex experiments and investigations in a range of areas, depending on specialty and interests. Moreover, an employee in this position contributes to the scientific community and promotes the University’s reputation as a leader in the field.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Oversees research employees, students, and other relevant staff.
2. Authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent applications.
3. Assists in the development of training materials for research staff.
4. Plans experiments and records and analyzes findings.
5. Prepares research proposals and funding applications.
6. Ensures that all activities are in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.
7. Maintains current knowledge of relevant scientific and technical developments.
8. Presents ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.
9. Adheres to Uni versity and unit - level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Ph.D., M.D. or other doctoral level degree in relevant field
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience

• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
