  • As a senior architect for banking & financial markets you will drive technology and innovation with our clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH)
  • You will be part of a global team and work directly with our thought leaders to develop new and innovative solutions.

  • You will be leading banking architectures from pre-sales to delivery with an end2end responsibility

Your Role and Responsibilities


As a Solution Architect in IBM Technology Expert Labs, you will work directly with customers who leverage our cutting-edge software-defined network services to help them achieve their business goals. You will be a pivotal team member who connects the client's technical functional, non-functional and implementation requirements with a solution design and proposal. You’ll work with enterprise and telecom customers pre-sale, helping them design, orchestrate, automate, manage, and monitor their critical software-defined networks, whether in the cloud, virtual, or on-prem. With your excellent networking knowledge and experience across multiple technologies, you will work closely with clients, sellers and the Delivery team to build solutions based on meeting the client's business outcomes and known best practices for the technology and industry.


Solution Design


Providing expert end-to-end technical guidance within the networking domain to lead discovery discussions with prospective Software Defined Networking clients, assess architecture needs for projects, work with technical leads and Sellers to create proposals. Assume overall technical responsibility for the success of proposed solution design, solution content, solution construction, and solution integration. Propose high quality solutions to clients in response to varying business requirements.


Solution Proposal


Leading client workshops, influencing client stakeholders at all levels to find the best architectural outcomes that align to business and technology strategies and initiatives into actionable roadmaps with clear direction on execution to ensure business value and ROI. Design and construct work breakdown structure leading to the estimation of efforts and resources needed to enable pricing. Produce the statement of work of the solution.


Project Success


Establishing personal relationship at all levels – from engineers to CIOs – with experience of navigating challenging debate to reach healthy resolutions during the plan and proposal process. Responsible for ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction through comprehensive knowledge of solutions offerings, strategies and direction as it relates to the client's business, infrastructure and industry. Through the use of pre-sales methodologies, apply in-depth knowledge of leading-edge technology solutions with industry and business skills to influence clients to adopt IBM solutions.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise


  • Skilled with Solution Architecture Methodology, Process and Tooling
  • Ability to develop technical briefs and detailed solution designs
  • Strong network management and OSS Integration experience
  • Experience with network security solutions is a bonus
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, including NG-RAN/O-RAN
  • Ability to convey technical concepts to a diverse audience
  • Prior experience designing Commercial off-the-shelf solutions to meet those requirements
  • Extensive experience with multi-vendor networking products including switches, routers, wireless, firewall
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing paradigms and orchestration tools, e.g. IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes/OpenShift
  • Telecom carrier or large enterprise customer experience
  • Must have excellent communication, documentation, and customer facing skills
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing 5G core networks
  • Extensive solution design and architecture experience, including capturing requirements in a customer-facing capacity
  • Technical familiarity with databases, programming, API’s and scripting
  • Experience with software defined networking technologies including Cisco ACI, SD-WAN, VMware NSX
