Automotive Sales Manager -
Ensures customer retention and the profitability of this profit center by recruiting qualified sales personnel. Assumes responsibility for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising vehicle inventory.

Ensures customer retention and the profitability of this profit center by recruiting qualified sales personnel. Assumes responsibility for appraising, purchasing, reconditioning, displaying, and merchandising vehicle inventory.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure team is informed of inventory and current advertising efforts
- Motivate / coach / lead sales team
- Prepare and administer an annual operating forecast and budget
- Forecast goals and objectives for sales, gross and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis
- Study available sources to find good-quality, low-mileage units
- Oversee the efforts of sales team to enhance the image / customer satisfaction ratings of the dealership
- Assist individuals in setting aggressive yet realistic monthly objectives and provide support
- Hard worker with great attention to detail
- Ability to successfully pass background checks / drug screen
- Comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect vehicle sales and update team as needed
- Appraise all incoming vehicles
- Communicate daily with other sales managers regarding units needed for used-vehicle inventory
- Valid Driver's license required
- Maintain professional appearance
- Plan / control the display of vehicles
- Establish delivery procedures and ensures that delivery includes an introduction to service department and scheduling of the first service appointment
- Track results of auction purchases and compare gross profits of auction vehicles with those of trade-ins
- Process salesperson commission sheets daily and monitor the payroll records
- Establish / control wholesaling activities
- Conduct local market analyses to determine which vehicles to stock
- Direct and schedule activities of sales team to ensuring proper staffing levels
- Handle customer complaints immediately according to dealership's guidelines
- Notify the department managers of anticipated delivery of purchases
- Assist in the development of advertising campaigns / promotions
- Approve all paperwork from auctions and provide proper documentation to the office
- Help close deals
- Establish and enforce product-knowledge standards
- Keep abreast of auto auction activity/prices and attend auctions on a regular basis
- Develop and maintain outside sources (wholesalers and retailers) for both buying and selling units
- Enforce a pre-determined day turn policy
- Other tasks as assigned
- Ensure 100 percent hand-off of each customer to F&I team
- Attend manager meetings
- Ensure cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership's cost and time limitations
- Ensure proper follow-up of all potential buyers by developing, implementing, and monitoring a prospecting and sales control system
- Maintain vehicle inventory
- Participate in hiring process
- Monitor preferences of customers, lost sales, and dealership sales history
- Conduct daily / weekly sales meetings
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
