Your New Role...

The China Investigative Producer will focus on exploring story ideas beyond daily headlines and breaking news related to the world’s new superpower for CNN’s TV and digital platforms. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced self-starter with deep knowledge on China, with a sharp nose and strong passion on the subject. The role will liaise with colleagues in CNN bureaus around the world and be expected to provide expert guidance on China-related matters.

Your Role Accountabilities...

• Spearhead production and post-production of resulting reports, including all editorial and logistical aspects of newsgathering and filming.
• Participate and assist in other CNN long-form projects when needed.
• Work closely with the Futures team and the Beijing Bureau to plan stories about China.
• The China Investigative Producer will pitch in-depth stories related to China based on extensive original research and sources.

Qualifications & Experience...

• Deep understanding of political, social and economic issues facing China
• Field experience in newsgathering and visual storytelling is highly desirable
• Extensive contacts and sources in all China-related fields
• Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese
• Excellent news judgement, time management skills and attention to detail
• At least 5 years in journalism, preferably data journalism
• Good people skills, drive and determination
• Intimate knowledge of Chinese-language social media

The Legal Bits…

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $95,550.00 - $177,450.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros. Discovery provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
