Description


An Associate Researcher I position is currently available within the Myeloproliferative Neoplasm Research Consortium Tissue Bank (MPN-RC TB) at the the Tisch Cancer Institute, in the division of Hematology/Medical Oncology.


The MPN-RC processes, stores and distributes primary specimens from MPN patients for translational research. The candidate will have a unique opportunity to work in a stimulating scientific environment.


We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized and highly motivated individual who will be responsible for laboratory operations as well as performing laboratory work in support of scientific research. The individual will report directly to the director of this tissue bank.


Responsibilities


  • Receives clinical specimens as required by the protocol
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains detailed laboratory notebook and enters data into Tissue Banking database
  • Performs assays to support research studies.
  • Responsible for all tissue banking processing, including but not limited to: PBMC, plasma, and granulocyte isolation


Qualifications


  • Knowledge of standard research concepts.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences preferred and 1-2 years research experience.
  • Candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques such as tissue culture, molecular biology skills such as DNA isolation, PCR and electrophoresis and protein biochemistry.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Compensation


The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58824 - $88236 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
