Roles & Responsibilities


The Associate Researcher I is a laboratory research position, responsible for independent conduct of routine and standardized experiments. This individual assists in the interpretation of research outcomes, performs assays to support research studies, and assists in the clerical and supply aspects of the laboratory environment.


Responsibilities


Shipment Management


  • Management of dry ice account and inventory. Order required amount of dry ice before a shipment.
  • Ship samples to Biorepository and PIs after a study is completed. Obtain EH&S approval before the shipment. Document the shipment contents with photos and delivery confirmation.
  • Print FedEx and other shipment labels.
  • Collect perishable shipments from the mailroom.


Inventory management


  • Update Chemical inventory
  • Inventory management of Tube Writer 360 and Brady printer.
  • Assisting with LIMS management
  • Check on flammable solvents stock, biweekly, and ensure that the amounts do not exceed the permissible limit for each flammable cabinet.
  • Tracking and follow up of pending POs for plastics and lab ware with respective vendors.
  • Assisting with labeling of tubes and vials
  • Order and Restock, Soap, Paper towels, and Kim Wipes


Lab tasks


  • Communication with EHS for waste removal and related tasks
  • Monitor and update inventories for chemicals, consumables, freezers etc.
  • Help with sample preparation (transfer, aliquoting, vial cleaning and labeling, column packing).
  • Help placing orders


Qualifications


  • Bachelors or Masters degree in science or related field required
  • 1 - 2 years of research/laboratory experience

Compensation


The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58824 - $88236 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
