Job Summary:
Purpose of Job:
  • While adhering to the mission and core values of Nebraska Methodist College, the Core Coordinator will provide academic coordination and leadership for the Nursing Informatics courses of the MSN program in an online learning management system. The Nursing Informatics Core Coordinator will ensure the nursing informatics courses are efficiently designed to fulfill student needs. The Core Coordinator is responsible for quality teaching that is pedagogically sound for adult learners in an online environment. The Core Coordinator will be sensitive to the overall goals of the college, the division of nursing, and the MSN Program, and will incorporate college needs into course planning and decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Teaching
Factors: Instructional Responsibilities: Demonstrate effective instructional methodology (see Section 2.5.1 of NMC Policy Manual ).
  • Provision of constructive feedback in a timely manner to students to foster professional development.
  • Course revision as needed to increase effectiveness
  • Effective course implementation through the use of a variety of instructional methods, as appropriate, to foster an environment to stimulate student interest and pursuit of learning.

Job Requirements
Education
  • One of the following must apply: The Associate Professor position requires (a) a Doctoral degree in a relevant field obtained from a regionally accredited program; (b) a Master’s degree, enrollment in a Doctoral degree program, completion of at least one year of full-time study in this program, and demonstrated current progress in this program; (c) a Master’s degree and completion of ten years of experience at the rank of Assistant Professor. Where appropriate, Nebraska licensure and national certifications are required. For additional information, please refer to the Nebraska Methodist College Employee Handbook.
  • A Doctoral Degree in a relevant field obtained from a regionally accredited program is preferred; A Master's degree in nursing and enrollment in a Doctoral degree program in a relevant field and demonstrated current progress with completion of at least one year of fulltime study in this program in this program will be considered.
Experience
  • Evidence of teaching, scholarship, and service for the rank is expected. When rank is sought at the time of hire, the candidate must already hold the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at a regionally accredited institution and have at least four (4) years at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Evidence of teaching, scholarship and service, or comparable credentials and experience, appropriate to the rank must be provided at time of hire. Appointment to rank of Associate Professor at time of hire is made at the discretion of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Where appropriate, Nebraska licensure and national certifications are required. For additional information, please refer to the Nebraska Methodist College Employee Handbook.
  • At least 3-5 years of previous experience in nursing informatics is required. Experience in online teaching and knowledge of teaching/learning theories, instructional methods, and curriculum design/evaluation is preferred.

License/Certifications
  • Unencumbered Nebraska nursing licensure or a multistate nursing license is required of nursing faculty employed at Nebraska Methodist College.

Essential Job Functions
Nursing Core Coordinator.
  • Regularly update the Program Director on the status of the assigned courses
  • Coordinate all aspects of the course in the learning management system.
  • Contribute to the development and growth of the nursing informatics program
  • Accurately and fairly enforce course, program, division, and college policies.
  • Provide mentoring to adjunct faculty.
  • Assume responsibility, promptly replies, and follows-up with course concerns and issues within assigned courses.
  • Formulate and updates the course syllabus.
  • Develop didactic and/or clinical coursework in assigned courses.
  • Evaluate didactic and/or clinical coursework in assigned courses.
  • Collaborate with other faculty in the development of the curriculum
