Role Overview
As an Energetic Associate Merchant, you'll be an essential part of our mission to drive business excellence within your designated category or seasons. You'll have the opportunity to foster relationships both internally and externally while working closely with our Senior Merchant and Director of Merchandising. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Merchandising: Utilize your merchandising prowess to ensure alignment across cross-functional teams and leadership, keeping everyone in sync with the seasonal product lineup.
Product Innovation: Collaborate with internal teams to generate exciting product concepts, enhance branding, and create diverse product assortments that align with our business goals and profitability objectives.
Team Collaboration: Facilitate engaging seasonal meetings to ensure we meet key milestone deliverables and keep the creative energy flowing.
Market Awareness: Stay ahead of the curve by understanding market trends, product competition, and consumer preferences. Share your insights and seize opportunities to drive our brand forward.
Product Development: Dive into every stage of product development, from concept to sourcing, pricing negotiations, and execution. Ensure we meet our timelines and deliver outstanding results.
Strategic Planning: Develop clear model line summaries that guide our cross-functional teams in delivering what our customers desire. Provide tactical plans that direct our teams on how to execute our merchandising strategy.
Ownership: Take ownership of your seasonal category, maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy, and grow your category/season effectively.
Presentation Skills: Present your seasonal product lines or category to internal management, stakeholders, and retailers with confidence and flair.
Global Collaboration: Engage directly with overseas vendors throughout the product development, pricing, sample approval, and production process.
Business Performance: Drive strategic buying decisions and contribute to the success of your designated merchandise category in collaboration with the Director of Merchandising.
In-season Excellence: Analyze sales and enhance margins to keep our business thriving. Collaborate closely with our internal planning, operations, and logistics teams.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree with a focus on Merchandising or Marketing.
2-4 years of related Merchandising or Product Development experience.
Strong understanding of retail sales metrics and merchandising requirements.
A self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and a task-oriented mindset.
Outstanding presentation and negotiation skills.
Experience in product development, overseas sourcing, manufacturing processes, importing, and costing.
Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships both internally and externally.
Multitasking abilities, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills are key.
Professionalism, organization, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Skills
Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
Strong analytical abilities.
Demonstrated technical proficiency.
