We serve the educational needs of registered nurses in programs from undergraduate to doctoral level. - Apply flexibility and creativity in meeting student needs, ensuring availability to students, responding to student issues and concerns, as needed, inside and outside of the classroom, based on the learning environment and according to University policy and instructional standards.
- Serve as a faculty teaching within the program curricula for online; effectively use a mentor/coach approach to build productive educational relationships with students.
- Utilize classroom learning system technology (provided by university), the Internet, and Microsoft Office software.
- As a faculty member you’ll be challenged with adding your professional expertise to instruct a curriculum which is centrally developed with specific learning objectives.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, to support student development and progression; hold open office hours to accommodate student development and progression.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Doctor of Nursing Science, Doctor of Nursing Practice, PhD in Nursing, Doctor of Pharmacy, Medical Physician/Psychiatrist, and/or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine/Psychiatrist OR
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting. Non-Pharmacists/Physicians also require at least 2 years of that experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a clinical setting with at least 2 years of that experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Doctorate degree in any area and a Master’s degree in Nursing OR
- Master’s degree in Nursing
- NOTE: Pharmacists or Physicians only require a current unencumbered or unrestricted license to practice
- SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT:
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification in the state of residence and/or practice
- All faculty members must have one record of scholarship annually, within a rolling one-year timeframe, that meets UOPX’s definition of scholarship engagement. Faculty who do not initially meet this requirement may still be qualified, however, they have one year from the date the content area is approved and/or the requirement effective date, to come into compliance with this Nursing Scholarship requirement to maintain content area approval.
- Must have 5 (five) years of experience in a clinical setting. Non-Pharmacists/Physicians also require at least 2 years of that experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Acceptable professional positions can include but are not limited to: Nurse Practitioner (NP), Doctor of Pharmacy, Medical Physician/Psychiatrist, and/or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine/Psychiatrist
- National Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Clinical Nurse Specialist.
- Must have the following active unencumbered or unrestricted
- College of Nursing requires all faculty with approved courses within the College to maintain Annual Scholarship
- CURRENCY: Must have 2 (two) years current experience within that last 5 years
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, employees and external parties
- High level of problem solving and decision-making abilities to respond to student issues and concerns, evaluate students for retention, assess student work and abilities and facilitate the doctoral learning experience
- Proven ability to promote student learning success in doctoral studies in the areas of writing, critical thinking, and research
- Familiarity with adult educational experience and in the retention motivation of adult learners
- Knowledge of adult education principles/practices, curriculum development and academic content area

For all states except CA, the pay range for this position is on a per course basis, and is between $1035 and $3686.
