The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

This position is grant-funded and contingent upon sufficient funding.

We Require

• Two years of experience with victim advocacy, social work, crisis intervention, or another closely related field which includes case management experience
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social work, family studies, psychology, or another closely related behavioral or social science field
• Valid Arizona driver’s license upon hire

• Experience working with sexual assault victims and understands the victimology and counterintuitive behaviors of sexual assault victims.
• The knowledge to be able to refer victims to culturally appropriate resources
• Experience working in a criminal justice system
• Public service experience working in a victim/advocate-related capacity

Job Contributions

• Provide crisis intervention/short-term counseling
• Carry out the mission and vision of the SAKI project under the direction of the SAKI Director
• Provide a seamless and coordinated approach in helping to transition the victim from the investigative phase to the prosecution phase where an MCAO prosecutorial advocate will be assigned
• Identify resources for victims and makes referrals to various social service agencies
• Provide information on the criminal justice system and victims' legal rights and protections according to the Arizona Constitution: Article II, Section 2.1, the Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.)
• Collaborate with SAKI detectives in the notification process to sexual assault victims in the re-opening of their cases to investigation and provides support as needed
• 13-4400 through 13-4439 and (A.R.S.)
• 8-381 through 8-421

Working Conditions

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
• It requires travel to and from job-related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
• The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs; drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior to placement
• Work occurs mostly in the office environment
