About the Position
Correctional Health Services is seeking a BE/BC Psychiatrist for an exciting opportunity to work with incarcerated individuals. As our Psychiatrist, you will work within an interdisciplinary team to provide integrated health care to patients navigating the judicial system. You will have the opportunity to impact people at their most difficult times, giving you a unique ability to make substantial positive changes in the lives of incarcerated individuals, their families, and the community.

We Require
  • Completion of an approved US Residency Fellowship in Psychiatry
  • Three years of experience in psychiatric evaluation and treatment
  • Valid, unrestricted license as a Psychiatrist in the State of Arizona issued by the State of Arizona Medical Board
  • Doctoral degree in Psychiatry or Medicine (MD, DO)

Job Contributions
  • Re-evaluate patients under care to refine diagnosis and treatment as indicated
  • Coordinate with the Forensic Team for any patients in a forensic program
  • Prescribe medications
  • Assist the team in developing Special Needs Treatment Plans
  • Evaluate new admissions to reach a diagnosis and treat identified mental illness
  • Participate as a member of the Mental Health Interdisciplinary Treatment team
  • Participate in the development of psychiatric protocols and clinical practice guidelines to ensure medical services are provided in a cost-effective manner
  • Document evaluations, treatments, and other patient interactions
  • Assist with preparation for licensure and accreditation surveys
  • Participate in the management of patients who require involuntary treatment, including, but not limited to initiating Court-ordered evaluation, participating in the Psychiatric Medication Review Board, and ordering the administration of involuntary medications as indicated
Working Conditions
  • May require travel between work locations
  • Ability to work inside a jail environment, consisting of working near inmates and other staff and indoors in a confined area handling multiple or complicated tasks
