The Opportunity:

The Associate Director, Global Inclusion and Belonging will contribute to our I&D strategy that is aligned to AstraZeneca’s values, addresses business/employee needs and strengthens our human-centric and inclusive culture. As part of the Global I&D team, you will thrive in a fast-paced, creative, and purposeful environment where bold, innovative thinking builds our platform for success.

Reporting to the Global Head of Inclusion and Diversity, you will contribute to building a culture of inclusion and driving belonging through our employee communities. You will also own the engagement strategy with key external partners to further internal and external I&D efforts. You will play a pivotal role in channeling our I&D strategy, sharing insights, driving positive outcomes, and seeking out new opportunities that align to our I&D strategy. You will be guided by the data, and metrics to measure outcomes and successes.

Key accountabilities:

  • Develop I&D champions networks across the organization to ensure consistent and impactful approach to motivating change, challenging bias, and sustaining an accepting an inclusive environment.
  • Build and moderate safe spaces for honest and practical dialogue around I&D.
  • Partner with our employee resource groups (ERGs) to ensure their voices are amplified and enable them to be strategic partners to the business.
  • Advise ERG Leaders and Executive Sponsors in the development of annual strategies, tracking and monitoring of KPIs and budget planning.
  • Identify, evaluate, build, and sustain I&D partnerships that support our I&D aspirations and business strategies.
  • Act as a genuine and trusted I&D advocate for employees and a change champion for the organization.

Key Requirements:

  • Understanding of the multiple dimensions of diversity through your own background or experience or thoughts
  • Experience working with Employee Resource Groups in a global environment.
  • Experience driving cultural changes and solutions in a sophisticated, cross-functional organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, with five minimum years of proven expertise.
  • Experience building and leading measurable and scalable I&D-focused programs and initiatives.
  • Ability to traverse the tactical, operational, and strategic needs of a growing organization, and proven success in an environment of ambiguity and change.
  • Ability to earn trust, collaborate, and maintain positive and professional relationships, with various customers internally and externally.
  • A deep sense of empathy and can connect well with employees of all levels.
  • Project management skills including the ability to develop and implement plans and timelines.
  • Ability to build positive relationships across different personality types, corporate ethos, hierarchical levels, and/or functional backgrounds and influence behavior change at all levels of an organization.
  • Analytical skills, including experience in analyzing and interpreting data, and translating analyses into meaningful recommendations and next steps.
