Job Description
Responsible for management of the Certificate Program-Practical Nursing and the Associate in Science Degree Nursing Program, District-wide.


  • Establishes and monitors academic standards for the nursing programs.
  • Organizes, plans and implements nursing pinning ceremonies in cooperation with the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs.
  • Assists the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs in the recruitment and selection of nursing faculty and laboratory staff.
  • Assesses effectiveness of nursing student admissions process and provides recommendations for improvement to the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs, as needed.
  • Assists in the implementation of the College's Strategic Plan and Equity Plan in accordance with their provisions.
  • Five years of experience in academic, clinical or ad ministrative nursing, or any combination thereof
  • Implements and assesses a plan for improving College/clinical agency relations through the use of effective communications and regular site visits to affiliate agencies.
  • Assists College officials in resolving faculty and student issues related to nursing programs.
  • Unrestricted Florida licensure as RN or ARNP
  • Demonstrates leadership to and management of the nursing programs, to include initiative in maintaining and in improving the quality of instruction.
  • Monitors nursing graduate and employer surveys, and provides recommendations to the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs for program improvement, as needed.
  • Maintains currency of knowledge in nursing education by attending state and national meetings of nursing educators and administrators.
  • Recommends program textbook, software, hardware, laboratory equipment, and curriculum changes to the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs, upon obtaining appropriate faculty input.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Submits annual reports through the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs to the Board of Nursing and the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs.
  • Assesses clinical facility placement needs and evaluates the quality of clinical facilities in accordance with Board of Nursing Rules 64B9 to ensure that clinical learning experiences are able to satisfy course and program objectives.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing from regionally accredited institution
  • Implements and monitors a plan for the continuous assessment of clinical effectiveness and provides recommendations to the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs for improvement, as needed.
  • Effectively represents the Division of Nursing & Health Programs when serving on assigned College committees and attending community functions.
  • Fosters a departmental climate that supports collegiality an students, faculty and staff.
  • Assists the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs in implementing and monitoring the nursing programs budgets and identifying equipment needs.
  • Coordinates clinical placements within the district and with out-of-district Clinical Coordinating Councils.
  • Actively pursues grants and outside funding sources for major projects and equipment.
  • Provides program data, reports and schedules to the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs.
  • Advises the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs and Chief Academic Officer of issues and concerns that may have College-wide administrative impact.
  • Maintains program compliance with Board of Nursing rules and program accreditation standards.
  • Provides and monitors the effectiveness of orientation programs for new full and part time faculty.
  • Organizes and participates in meetings of the Nursing Program Technical Advisory Committee.
  • Serves as the College's liaison with the Board of Nursing regarding continuing education for nurses.
  • Encourages and supports articulation with K-12, universities, the College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree program and other educational and community agencies.
  • Collaborates with the Provosts and Dean of Nursing & Health Programs in preparing performance evaluations of nursing faculty and evaluates the effectiveness of instruction.
  • Monitors nursing program retention and placement rates, submits retention data to the Dean of Nursing & Health Programs and provides recommendations for improvement, as needed.
