We seek a dynamic behavior analyst who has expertise in the provision of applied behavior analysis services, instruction in higher education and provision of academic support services to undergraduate or graduate students. The successful candidate will provide high quality, online instruction to the graduate programs in applied behavior analysis, will supervise graduate students in the ABA program, and provide individualized academic/ learning support to students in the ABA program who face challenges with academic performance.

Workload information:

Maintain an annual workload of 24 credits annually, to include teaching, supervision, and providing individual academic support or exam preparation support for students in the ABA program;

Teaching, Supervising and Program Responsibilities:

As part of the overall workload, teach and supervise a minimum of five (5) courses (15 credits) or the equivalent in supervision per academic year, to include a range of graduate courses offered by the ABA program or (if appropriate to scope of competence) other courses offered in related programs. Courses will be scheduled during fall, spring and summer semesters and taught via an online course management system, with synchronous class meetings held weekly;

  • Incorporate technology to enhance student learning;
  • Advance research/scholarship of the ABA program, including leadership of student research activity;
  • Assist with the identification, compilation, and analysis of ongoing and annual program assessment information;
  • Engage in program development and innovation in applied behavior analysis and special education/teacher education;
  • Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic and attendance policies;
  • Maintain scheduled office hours according to university policy;
  • Maintain close contact to and engagement with the applied behavior analysis credentialing organizations, regional ABA organizations, latest BACB® regulations, and up-to-date field of ABA content;
  • Establish and maintain community/district-based partnerships.
  • Assist with the securing of grants or participate with other fundraising efforts as requested;
  • Assist in curriculum development, including development of online classes and supervision curriculum;
  • Supervise students in the ABA program (remotely, or onsite at a professional setting) involving weekly synchronous face-to-face meetings with individual or small groups of graduate students;
  • Stay current with best practices in teaching and learning;

Program Learning Specialist Responsibilities:

As part of the overall workload, provide individual academic support and test preparation assistance for students in the ABA program (3 course equivalent per academic year are allotted to these responsibilities (45 hours or one course equivalent per semester for the fall, spring, and summer semesters)

  • Monitor overall performance and participation of students in ABA 612, post announcements and study/ academic resources weekly, and encourage consistent performance in ABA 612;
  • Review early alerts submitted by instructors and collaborate with instructors to best support student success in courses;
  • Assist with organize and content of canvas course site for ABA 612: Intensive Test Preparation for ABA students, and manage student progression through the course with Program Director;
  • Provide training workshops for students each semester (remotely) on topics related to improved academic performance, including (but not limited to): study skills, test-taking strategies, managing test anxiety;
  • Recommend strategies for students in ABA 612 as indicated;
  • Research and remain current on all university provided academic supports, in order to best advise and refer students;
  • Develop practice quizzes for students in ABA 612;
  • Assist students who are on academic warning and academic probation with the development of an academic success plan;
  • Refer individual students for academic tutoring as indicated;
  • Review proposed academic success plans and sign approval;
  • Train and support adjunct instructors working directly with students enrolled in ABA 612 and other ABA courses who are experiencing academic challenges;
  • Monitor students on academic success plans during the semester via email, remote meeting, or on site meetings as recommended;
  • Refer students as indicated for additional academic support (Students Support Services, Writing Tutors, Academic Advising, Counseling, etc.)
  • Research best practices in exam preparation and academic support and assist in developing program supports for students;
  • Provide individual instruction or tutoring with students on specific topics related to ABA, as needed, or indicated;

University Service Responsibilities:

  • Understand and practice according to the university's mission, purpose and goals and the role of faculty in achieving those goals;
  • Attend trainings as required;
  • Engage in school and university service and committee activities while also participating in community service activities aligned with the University's mission;
  • Assist the admissions office with student recruitment by participating in open houses and other admissions events, calling, and writing prospective students and other activities as requested;
  • Perform any other job related functions as assigned by the University;
  • Support diversity, inclusion and equity in teaching, supervision, and service;
  • Maintain appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety in the classroom and throughout the university;
  • Attend faculty, department, and university meetings;
  • Maintain an active presence at the university, including participation in major university events (e.g., Commencement, Academic Convocation) and student events. These events will require some on-campus presence annually;
  • Actively participate and be involved in representing the university in local, state, and national professional organizations;

Job Requirements:
  • Ability to adhere to university policies and procedures.
  • All new employees must complete the FERPA, Anti-Harassment, and any other required online training within 15 days of employment.
  • An earned doctorate (Ed.D, Ph.D.) or equivalent in ABA or a related field;
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures;
  • Experience in special education or the provision of specialized academic supports for students experiencing challenges;
  • General knowledge of the University's mission, purpose and goals and the role this position plays in achieving those goals.
  • BCBA® required; LBA or LABA strongly preferred;
  • Interest, initiative, and ability to develop and evaluate programs in the department;
  • Experience supervising undergraduate/graduate students;
  • A record that speaks highly of teaching abilities;
  • At least 5 years of experience providing behavior analytic services in public or private settings;
  • Current teaching license preferred;
  • Experience teaching in higher education, and conducting workshops, trainings, or other forms of professional development;
  • Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course (within 15 days of hire) and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.
  • Submit to and pass criminal offender records check (C.O.R.I.). and sexual offender records check (S.O.R.I.);
  • Valid U.S. driver's license;
  • Working knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA guidelines;
  • Excellent technology skills and experience teaching online preferred;
