JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Assistant Director of Independent Living Program

Employment Classification: Full-Time; Salary; Exempt

Reports to: Director of Support Services

Department: Programs

Program Summary: Independent Living Program provides case management, support services, workshops, and special events to help youth ages 16-21 prepare for emancipation as well as youth with housing vouchers ages 18-24, find and maintain housing.

Position Summary: Leads program teammates in all aspects of assigned programs and services. Responsible for implementation of trauma informed service coordination. Ensure collaboration with government agencies and community partners. Serves as an important member of the Program Leadership Team focusing on the furthering Orangewood Foundation’s mission and strategic goals.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Adheres to all areas of government contract compliance for the services rendered.
  • Develop relationships and communicate with community partners to maintain and expand referral and resource base.
  • Collaborate to recruit, hire, and retain a team of staff who are knowledgeable of issues affecting Transitional Age Youth (TAY) and can support youth who have experienced foster care, homelessness, mental health, exploitation, trafficking or are at-risk of being exploited.
  • Provide supervision, guidance, coaching, and training to program supervisors of direct care staff.
  • Lead effective program meetings and weekly individual/group supervisions.
  • Responsible to utilize youth input in program practices and to maintain services that are current, relevant, and consistent with the needs of the target population.
  • Develop, update, and implement Program policies and procedure, ensuring all Program staff are knowledgeable of processes and expectations and the fidelity of organizational policies across all program sites.
  • Ensures data accuracy in adherence to guidelines for reporting.
  • Meets regularly with funders and reports on contracted outcomes and deliverables.
  • Direct the implementation and evaluation of relevant initiatives, current and future programming.

Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements:

  • Have an understanding of systemic issues which impact TAY such as issues with social services, law enforcement, criminal and civil legal systems.
  • Master’s degree in human services field from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in human services, coordinating social services related program, and an excellent understanding of issues related to child abuse and trauma.
  • Experience in the development of new programs and enhancement of existing ones.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience including supervision of multiple teams.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to be available as needed by the Program.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, and drug screen. Previous employment will be verified.
  • Must be comfortable speaking and presenting in public.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in organizations servicing transitional age youth.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in affordable housing and housing vouchers. Experience in Orange County preferred, but not required.
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
  • 3+ years of program and people supervision or management with the ability to assist supervisors and direct service providers with their skill development.

Working Environment/Physical Requirements: Position may require use of personal vehicle. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending, and lifting up to approximately 50 lbs. (i.e., tables, chairs, food, water, etc.)

Modification to work schedule may be made based on need of the Foundation.
