Overview An Independent Living Skills Trainer is a professional who provides instruction and guidance to individuals with disabilities to help them develop the skills necessary to live independently. The trainer works with clients to identify their needs and develop a plan to help them achieve their goals. The trainer may provide instruction in areas such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and other life skills. Detailed Job Description An Independent Living Skills Trainer is responsible for providing instruction and guidance to individuals with disabilities to help them develop the skills necessary to live independently. The trainer works with clients to identify their needs and develop a plan to help them achieve their goals. The trainer may provide instruction in areas such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and other life skills. The trainer may also provide support and guidance to help the client develop self-advocacy skills. The trainer may also provide assistance in locating and accessing community resources. Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Knowledge of independent living skills

• Ability to work with a variety of individuals
• Ability to provide support and guidance
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to work with limited supervision
