Job Description

Assists the Director of Construction Services in planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the Construction Services Division.

  • Oversees inspection and coordinates correction of defects by contractors.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
  • Performs project management duties for major and minor projects as needed.
  • Assists the Director of Construction Services in planning, organizing, and managing the activities of the Construction Services Division with all Major and Minor Capital Construction Projects for all campuses.
  • Supervises Construction Services Division Project Managers verifying policies and procedures are followed.
  • Provides guidance to University Officials during the planning and designing phases to assist departments in determining their needs, project scope, and establishing reasonable time schedule and project plans.
  • Provides leadership in the planning, development, and completion of all phases of a construction project.
  • Performs other duties and tasks related to University operations or requirements as may be required by the Facilities Construction Department administration.
  • Complies with the Florida Building Code by ensuring that building permits have been requested and properly closed out.
  • Reviews and recommends the approval of any proposed Minor Capital project proposals, change orders, and payment applications. Prepares project status reports with initial estimates, develops contract documentation, and attends pre-bid and pre-construction meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Construction, OR a State of Florida General Contractor's License and ten (10) years of experience, OR a Master's degree and seven (7) years of experience.
