About The Opportunity


JOB SUMMARY:


Under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Assistant Director of Student Recruitment, Bay Area, the Assistant Director of Admissions will design and implement an effective recruitment strategy for generating new to university domestic students. The recruitment strategy may include, but not limited to direct outreach via phone, text and email, virtual or in-person appointments and generating new prospects via recruitment tactics and channels that may include virtual and in-person events within the assigned territories, campuses, audience or portfolio designed to attract domestic, professional graduate and bachelor completion students to meet the University’s enrollment and revenue goals.


Further responsibilities include group counseling, advising prospective students and employers regarding the enrollment process, conducting presentations, developing and maintaining relationships with companies, organizations, associations and colleges/universities, and managing the recruitment and enrollment cycle for their campus, audience, and/or territory in alignment with key performance indicators, conversion benchmarks and ultimately, enrollment goals (yield/melt). The Assistant Director role will be accountable for coordinating and managing specific constituent relationships or projects in addition to other duties as assigned.


This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes mornings, evenings and weekends, extensive travel, reliable transportation and a valid driving license. 


This position will be based in Oakland, CA.


Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities


Coordinating and managing College/Campus constituent relationship or project(s) -


  • Effectively manage any assigned project(s) including setting goals in consultation with his/her supervisor, developing and managing timelines, achieving desired results and producing a final report on the assigned task.
  • Works closely with an assigned constituent group to communicate admissions-related information.
  • Serve as an advocate of the College/Campus constituency in the admissions process.


Counsel and Advise Prospects and Applicants, Counselors, and other Constituents -


  • Fully participate in all training and professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate accurate information and effectively counsel all prospects, applicants, transfer counselors, and other employer/community constituents in a timely, professional and positive manner during all recruitment events including, onsite visits, information sessions, interviews, written correspondence email and phone calls.


Management of Systems and Knowledge Base -


  • Work closely with leadership to collect, analyze and present data that will inform new programs and services that meet market demands.
  • Provide feedback on any issues/interests that may arise during applicant & prospective student contact in efforts to provide continued improvement of the student experience.
  • Accountable for staying current with all programs within assigned programs in order to be able to properly assist applicants and prospective students with the enrollment cycle.
  • Prepare for and participate in all calls and meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely record keeping for all interaction with students in university CRM and application systems in order to produce accurate reporting.


Student Recruitment -


  • Develop, coordinate, plan and execute recruitment programs including, group and individual counseling of students, receptions / information events for students and employers, yield and melt activities, interviews, regional open houses, college and transfer counselor events, training forums among other activities.
  • Attend virtual/in-person industry events, fairs, conferences and shows to establish a presence in emerging and introductory markets and to increase market share in established markets.
  • Follow-up and evaluation is expected upon return from travel.
  • Plan, design and implement an effective goal driven recruitment strategy designed to attract talented, diverse and qualified students for an assigned geographic area, degree program or audience(s). The strategy should include efficient and cost-effective travel management in these territories while meeting campus and university expectations and priorities.


Minimum Qualifications


  • A minimum bachelor's degree is required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in consultative sales, student recruitment, college admissions and/or other customer service roles.
  • This results-driven position also requires comfort and motivation working to achieve and exceed benchmarks, KPIs and targets.
  • Proven ability to work independently, excellent communication and presentation skills, sensitive and responsive to the needs of diverse constituencies and managing goals.
  • A successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to successfully work independently, and who actively contributes in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in customer-centric sales, counseling, recruitment, travel, call campaigns, and small and large group presentations also preferred.
  • This role will require one to be creative, tenacious, innovative, nimble and willing to create and execute plans or contingency plans as goals and needs rapidly evolve.


The starting salary is $67,485.60.
