Role Purpose And Scope


The Product Expert team within Aladdin Client Services is seeking to hire a Front Office Product Support Expert. Front Office Product Experts specialize in Portfolio Management Tools, Portfolio Analytics and Security Analytics and their core mission is to:


  • Build deep product and workflow expertise, handle the most complex client asks and elevate the knowledge of the support organization
  • Partner with developers and the broader business to build more user- and support-friendly applications and workflows, and
  • Engage with leading investment and risk professionals from our client base on sophisticated projects.


The team is highly visible and well connected across the Aladdin Business and partners with product management/development functions to solve complex technical inquiries and help shape product development. Additionally, the Product Experts will work closely with our Aladdin development teams to help drive and improve platform supportability and stability by partnering on strategic tooling initiatives.


Key Responsibilities


  • Engage with Aladdin users on front office workflows, product, process and service as well underlying analytics & financial models
  • Drive support and product initiatives by engaging regularly with development teams
  • Work closely with other business units to prepare the Level 1 Aladdin Client Service team for product changes and releases
  • The team is looking to hire an individual with coding experience (java/react) to develop tools to automate debugging of complex front office inquiry and engage Aladdin users on portfolio management workflows.
  • Act as key liaison between the Aladdin Client Service, Aladdin Client Engagement, Implementations, Product Marketing, Engineering, and the wider BlackRock business
  • Formulate and implement strategic objectives to improve Aladdin user experience through process and technology enhancements
  • Deployment of new products and functionalities with Product Managers, Developers and Product marketing
  • Identify function gaps and areas of strategic improvement from a product platform and financial modelling perspective
  • Develop skills to become technically proficient in all workflows within a front office product focus area: Portfolio Management Tools, Portfolio Analytics or Security Analytics
  • Develop internal talent by providing learning/training opportunities, career development and 1:1 mentoring
  • Work with key stakeholders across the Aladdin business to deliver against product specific, high impact projects
  • Own complex Aladdin user inquiry demonstrating technical knowledge to determine root cause and steps to resolve
  • Analyze client inquiry trends using data and user feedback and implement solutions to improve workflows and product


Desired Qualifications


  • CFA, FRM, CAIA or other professional qualifications
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to tailor approach to all corporate levels
  • Technically proficient, experience in diagnosing root cause and ability to problem solve
  • A desire to continuously learn and build product and workflow expertise
  • Experience of automation tools and support tooling experience
  • 3+ years in a client facing or product role focusing on investment applications, theories and workflows
  • Java/React programming experience preferred
  • Previous knowledge and experience with specialized portfolio construction/reporting tools
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • A working knowledge of SQL, UNIX, java, Python or similar, and/or Aladdin
  • In-depth technical understanding and knowledge of investment processes and workflows
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high self-assurance, positive demeanor and drive
  • Knowledge of security analytics, portfolio risk and their application in the portfolio construction process


For New York City only: The salary range for this position is $118,750 - $135,000. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model


BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 3 days in the office each week, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days a week; some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
