The main responsibilities of a welding instructor are to teach the craft to students by demonstrating skills and techniques with tools, such as arc welders, welding shields, automated cutting torches, and computerized welding software. The Instructor will perform a variety of routine duties to teach structural fabricating, repair and maintenance, MIG, TIG, and ARC, 0XY/ACE welding and cutting, and plasma cutting to students from different backgrounds, ethnicity, nationalities, gender, ages, religions, or disabilities in the classroom and in the lab, using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures and demonstrations and using audiovisual and technological aids to supplement the presentations.

SALARY: Appropriate placement on the Adult Education Employees Salary Schedule, based on experience and education
REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee

WORKWEEK/YEAR: Hourly as determined / Part-Time hours as assigned, some weekend and evening hours
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED. Three (3) years’ work experience in welding and fabrication, working knowledge of stick, MIG, TIG, structural, and pipe welding. Strong computer/keyboarding skills. Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, frequently using Word and email. Ability to develop lesson plans, teach basic welding techniques, help students acquire specialized skills, select class materials, recommend training equipment and adhere to safety regulations. Ability to work cooperatively with other educators to plan programming for students. Effective student/parent/employer communication skills, instructional techniques, and job development capabilities. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Certified welder. Previous teaching experience in career tech. Ability to develop curriculum and knowledge of instructional techniques. Previous experience working with high school students. First Aid/CPR/AED Certifications.
