POSITION SUMMARY: The Assisted Living Administrator oversees the overall management and day-to-day operations of the assisted living center while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; the hiring, training and supervision of qualified staff while ensuring continuity and consistency in delivery and quality of services; establishing a working relationship with regulatory agencies, resident family members, and community advocates.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Other duties as assigned.
- Evaluating and implementing recommendations from the assisted living committees (i.e., Quality Assessment and Assurance, Infection Control, Safety, Pharmacy, Resident Council, and the Assisted Living Advisory Board).
- Demonstrates excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrates leadership, effective communication both written and orally.
- Ensuring that the assisted living center admits only those residents for whom it can provide care and assisting the interdisciplinary team in determining if the resident’s need for care continues to be met at the assisted living center.
- Maintaining his or her license on a current status as required by law, and maintaining of copy of such license on the premises of the assisted living center.
- Supervises subordinate staff by completing performance evaluations, timesheets, interpret and explain policies, hire, discipline, terminate and counsel staff when necessary.
- Maintains relationships with Comanche Nation departments, businesses and local community groups.
- Plan, organize, prioritize, coordinate and delegate work to subordinate staff.
- Communicate relevant and necessary information to appropriate staff while adhering to confidentiality standards.
- Managing the day-to-day functions of the assisted living center.
- Attends CBC meetings and all other meetings as requested by the Tribal Administrator and CBC.
- Adheres to the Comanche Nation Constitution, Financial Policy, Human Resources Policies and Procedures, Property and Procurement Policies and all other pertinent policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that an adequate number of personnel are employed to meet resident needs;
- Ensures the development of staff to improve program services.
- Implementing established resident care policies; personnel policies, administrative policies, resident services contract, safety and security policies, and other operational policies and procedures necessary to remain in compliance with current laws, regulations, and guidelines governing assisted living facilities.
- Ensuring that each resident’s right to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, confidentiality of information, property and civil rights, including the right to lodge a complaint, are strictly enforced;
- Ensuring that public information describing assisted living services is accurate, descriptive, and readily available upon request.
- Formulating an annual budget and monitoring operational costs to conform to the established budget.
- Serving as a liaison to the tribal administrator, medical staff, and other professional and supervisory staff;
- Demonstrates awareness, sensitivity, and appreciation of Native American culture, traditions, customs and needs.
REPORTS TO: Reports to the Tribal Administrator. Supervisory responsibility of all Assisted Living employees.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to move in the assisted living center to supervise workers and ensure the health and well-being of the residents. Must be able to type, file, answer phones and perform other light office duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Assisted Living Administrator works in clean and comfortable office environment. Some travel may be required to visit hospitalized residents, promote facility, conduct business at Comanche Nation Complex, assist as needed with resident medical appointments, activities program, or to obtain continuing education credits for license.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Care Administration or Related Field.
- Must be able to pass drug screening.
- Previous experience working in Long Term Care preferred.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a background investigation.
- Must have a current valid Driver’s License and be insurable under the Comanche Nation’s motor vehicle policy.
- Must be licensed as an Assisted Living Administrator, preferably licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Oklahoma.
