Why does the job exist?
The Administrative Law Judge - Advanced will:
- Provide Human Services Department/Office of Fair Hearings (HSD/OFH) claimants with due process and impartiality throughout the hearing process;
- Schedule and conduct hearings in a timely manner that are in accordance with all applicable policies and regulations, as well ensure that due process is afforded to all parties
- Provide detailed summary in ASPEN of the case matters that were presented before, during and after the case proceedings and to include a detailed summary of the recommendations and decisions as applicable;
- Comply with all department policies and procedures to include all OFH Administrative Law Judge Manual, Hearings Templates and OFH Information Memorandums.
How does it get done?
The Administrative Law Judge-A is responsible for:
- Exceeding the Performance Standards for Customer Service, with their handling of the Claimants, their representatives and all Concerned parties involved in hearings;
- Exceeding the Performance Standards for the quality of case Recommendations/Decisions submitted to the Income Support Division (ISD), Medical Assistance Division (MAD), Office of Inspector General (OIG), and Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED) Directors, it is to be accurate and thorough;
- Writing recommendations for all categories of benefits and for some will write the decisions for the case;
- Meeting the Standard set by the Federal Food and Nutrition's annual Audit/Inspection.

- Claimants, representatives, concerned parties, ISD,MAD OIG, CSED.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience in establishing hearing dates and issued subpoenas and conferred on complex cases;
- Experience in conducting adjudicatory or administrative hearings;,/li>
- Experience reviewing testimonies.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Administration, Social Services or Labor Relations and six (6) years of experience in conducting administrative hearings, employment placement, claims adjudication and/or investigations. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or experience in this occupation totaling ten(10) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Substitutions apply.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS"), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. Minimal statewide travel may be required.
