The Eighth Judicial District is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Law Clerk position in Sub-District 8A – Southeast Iowa (Appanoose, Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Louisa, Mahaska, Monroe, Poweshiek, Van Buren, Wapello and Washington counties). Domicile to be determined within Sub-District 8A and applicant selected. Depending on funding, availability, and performance, this clerkship may be extended up to an additional year.

Starting salary $53,622.40 annually. Eligible for State of Iowa benefits.

Responsibilities:
Employees in this position perform research and administrative functions for multiple judges. Knowledge of substantive and procedural law and statutes applicable to jurisdiction of the district court. Ability to interact with the public, judges, attorneys, and government officials in a variety of situations and circumstances. Ability to formulate and express ideas on complex technical and legal subjects clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

Graduation from an accredited law school is required (applicants may apply before they have officially graduated). High standard of academic excellence and considerable experience in legal research and writing are desirable.
