Job Summary

Our client, a global leader in energy and defense technology, is seeking an entry-level Electro-Mechanical Actuation Engineer to join their mechanical engineering team in the San Diego area. 6+ years of experience in the design & development of electro-mechanical actuation systems and analysis of power drive train system and components (gears, bearings, power screws, etc) for stress, life and environmental considerations, and a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline are key requirements (advanced degree is a big plus). Key skills & experience also include exposure to actuation design, CREO/NX/Matlab/KissSoft/Ansys, control system analysis, aerospace development, GD&T, design/analysis of gears, bearings, ballscrews, motor sizing/analysis, Hydraulic flow analysis & valve sizing. Relocation assistance will be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Support trade studies for new actuation product.
• Support of proposals (technical solutions) for new aircraft efforts or modifications to existing aircraft.
• Analysis of hydraulic or electric power drive systems and components (gears, bearings, power screws, etc) for stress, life and environmental considerations.
• Engineering risk reduction and qualification testing of hardware for performance, life and environmental requirements which may occur in a lab environment or on aircraft.
• Design of Actuation systems or components.
• Develop project plans in coordination with project team members.
• Support with production of existing and/or new product via troubleshooting failures, process improvements and/or design and cost improvements.
• Coordination within other teams including; electrical engineering, software, systems engineering, program planning, program management and project engineering.
• Integration of actuation product with other components within the aircraft for successful operation.
• Act as a subject matter expert within one or more areas of actuation.
